I've spoken to the GP, mum and I have both tested negative, but neither I or the GP have any idea whether I'm still required to stay home for the rest of the 14 days or not as these muppets seem to be changing their mind on a daily basis.

Tried that, after navigating the IVR that keeps trying to direct me to their website, I get to choose the option to get to wait for an operator, I get told they're too busy, try again later and they hang up on me.watt price tully wrote:Great news: ring the 1800 numberstui magpie wrote:I've spoken to the GP, mum and I have both tested negative, but neither I or the GP have any idea whether I'm still required to stay home for the rest of the 14 days or not as these muppets seem to be changing their mind on a daily basis.

I've decided to apply common sense and logic, based on the following.
1. People who have been in a notified hot spot in Victoria and therefore potentially exposed to the virus are being advised to get tested and isolate at home until they get a negative result. Not 14 days, just until they get a negative result.
2. Where I was in NSW was a declared green zone until new Years Eve, more than 700km from the nearest hot spot in NSW and 270km from the nearest hot spot in Victoria
3. Not a single one of the tens of thousands of tests taken in the past few days has shown a positive result from anywhere near where I was.
4. I have been tested and got a negative result.
As far as I'm concerned, quarantine is finished.

^ That's correct from my understanding. If you get a negative result then you're free to go (unless you were in specific locations, like that restaurant in Black Rock). Surprised they didn't tell you that when you got your results back tbh.

They keep changing their mind.
When they first announced the border closure, if you crossed on New Years Eve you were fine, if you crossed on New Years Day you had to test and isolate for 14 days, if you crossed after that you had to go to hotel quarantine.
Next day they changed from hotel quarantine to no entry and being turned back at the border. Neither the email I got or the website are specific and my GP didn't know as she said the advice keeps changing.

Yeah like a premier who $@&^# up, forced millions to be locked up at home and onto job keeper and seeker and then gave himself a $45,000 pay rise to celebrate his fine achievements. He definitely cares about all Victorians...think positive wrote:yeah i stuck up for him but he is being ridiculouswatt price tully wrote:Why bother talking to Eddie?David wrote:That’s a bit offensive to people who are just trying to be responsible. Doesn’t seem like rocket science and I’m perplexed that anyone treats this as a topic of debate.
First he told us that the wearing of masks was a conspiracy between Daniel Andrews and the Chinese Government
Then he tells us he knows more than the experts do regarding the wearing of masks.
He even falsely & continually asserts that others say that the wearing of masks is the only tactic in stopping the spread: a deliberate straw man argument
There’s no point in arguing with a person who continually declares their foolishness and has such an obvious chip on their shoulder.
one thing this virus really highlights, just who is a self centred bugger that doesnt care about the welfare of others.
Alister Clarkson and the shark came out over Christmas and described just what its like to suffer from the virus, good reading for those who think its just the flu. you know, aside form the people that died from it!

Who told you to suck it up? I don’t remember that. Who are you referring too re extrawork? Someone who works in healthcare, ie WPT? I mean for (mates with) sakeget a grip, who in the health care sector would be celebrating what they have been through? If Your referring to me we didn’t get heaps of extra work, we got different work, and just to piss you off we got some job keeper because we didn’t earn as much as last year! And I certainly would not tell anyone to suck it up, I have admitted here I didn’t handle lockdown well at times, , in fact it was a %$^%$ of a year on many faces, but you just got to keep going. Money isn’t the be all end all, I have lost three people in three months who I cared verydeeply about, and a fourth is lucky to be alive, none of it covid but it sure as hell effected how I got to spend time with them before they were gone. And that’s nothing compared to those who lost loved ones in the nursing home fiasco, how were you affected again? What did it ‘cost’ you? Do you have a single ounce of compassion for what people have gone through aside from yourself?eddiesmith wrote:Accusing others of being self centered when they got heaps of extra work during lock down and told people who'd lost work just to suck it up...
The doctors and nurses who sat with people dying in agony, alone, unable to even have their hand held, those who had to sit home and wait for the inevitable call. My sister is a cop, she has been worked of her feet all year, dealing with a huge increase in family violence, dickheads who just can’t do the right thing, having to try and coordinate food and supplies for those in the towers, not to mention spending weeks in Wangaratta coordinating the bush fire efforts last year. only to have her car broken into last week and a heap of her gear and her purse stolen by a damn druggy! You think she is loving the overtime? She is mentally and physically exhausted.
Tell me again, why are you so damn hard done by?
Last year was hell. The blame game can wait til it’s all over. We need to get it right because I do not want to be locked down again. If only common sense and common decency could be relied on, the blanket rules would not have to be enforced, but **** refuseto do the right thing, what option is there?
For (mates with) sake just for once, think positive!
You cant fix stupid, turns out you cant quarantine it either!

No it wasn’t directed at you
But no I haven’t lost anyone in 2020, only one family member really left in that age group and she will make it to 100 even though she’s told us she won’t make her next birthday or Christmas every year for the last 10 at least!
No the only thing I’ve lost is 2 golden job opportunities in my dream jobs. 1 because the entire industry shut down, only in Victoria, any other state and we would have gone ahead. The other I applied for positions in Sydney and Melbourne, got shortlisted for the Sydney job but the host organisation decided it was too much risk with the Victorian border shut at the time, thanks Dan!
If I lived just a few kilometres north I’d have had a fantastic 2020, oh well...
