David wrote:Thanks for checking in, PTID. I'm doing okay! Still in the thick of it, but my symptoms have been relatively mild so far. Lola and Ingmar have both since also tested positive, but they're in a similar boat. Hopefully it's not going to get worse from here, but if it doesn't then fingers crossed we'll be able to leave the house again on the weekend! :)
Good to hear. What symptoms do you have? It seems to vary from person to person.

A poster on Big Footy who's timing is about the same as yours was initially complaining of severe headache and sore throat.

The worst has been some soreness in the chest and back (might be a lung issue?) that was causing some discomfort through yesterday, but otherwise the only symptoms of note have been an intermittent cough, some general tiredness and a bit of a temperature from time to time that panadol has been taking care of. Haven't lost any sense of taste or smell (not that I ever had a strong sense of the latter to begin with!), though a friend who recently came down with COVID said that it took almost a week before that kicked in.

I'm into my fourth day today (fifth if you include Friday, when in hindsight I was probably suffering early symptoms), and I think it's fair to say I've had worse colds and flus. I guess it's a testament to how much its effects can vary, but also omicron + double vaccination obviously makes a big difference.

Good to hear you're doing well, and yeah without labouring the cold/flu comparison different people do seem to get different experiences, like with the Flu. Some get mild symptoms, others get quite crook and some die.

I remember during the 2019 flue season which was a bad one I was working in an office in the CBD and people were dropping like flys, some took weeks to recover. The worst I got was sniffles.

Yep, and no argument.

I don't know about you but for me, 2020 and 2021 tend to blur into each other. Events that I think were last year were actually 2020 and vice versa. It's been a $@&^# up last 2 years with the capacity for people to work from home being clearly demonstrated one of the few positives.

Glad to hear you're not too bad, David.

I went back to work today, after having a few weeks off, and found out four people from my office had it while I was away. None of them had to go to hospital.

Well I must confess my overbearing younger sister who spent three months training with the Chinese badminton team in China in the nineties, made a scene that made an atomic explosion look like fireworks when I didn’t!

My daughter and her partner have tested positive, grandson negative at the moment.

Leath is fine, Tash has fever and aches and tired. They're supposed to be moving house tomorrow, now they have to keep fruit fly home for 7 days.

Just did a quick drive over to take her a small trolley to help with the move, common sense says they can still move provided there's no risk to others but it will be painful with Tash not feeling great and fruit fly demanding constant attention.

I don't get how at School IF you are in the Same Class as a Covid Case you don't go into ISO. Only when you Test Positive or Feel Sick you go into Iso

Should be same way for everyone then

It is Dave, it’s the same rules at work. You only have to isolate if you spend 4 or more hours inside a residential setting with a positive case.

In Australia yesterday, there were 5,227 people in hospital, 372 people in ICU and 135 people ventilated. There were 105 deaths reported. That's 489 deaths reported in the last 7 days.

I volunteered to go over and help the daughter to move any of the heavy stuff but they declined as they didn't want to risk infecting me. Besides, Leath is still feeling fine and Tash is feeling a bit better today, so if they're able to get the keys they'll try to manage it themselves.

Second bout of isolation for the grandson this year, he doesn't cope well with it.

I've noticed there's a lot of people in the food service industry not wearing masks. Even if they have medical exemptions should they be handling other people's food? Seems risky.
