Jordan De Goey's case has been adjourned for response and decision to January 18, 2022.

He is screwed for the 2022 season either way.

I assume he wont be able to train with the club still until this case is sorted.

His pre-season has been buggered, stupid idiot.

He wont be a career Collingwood player now either way.

Our new fitness Guru Jordan Wade ,in 'that Essendon presentation' told the story of the player who lost the GF in the final seconds because he went 'left instead of right ?' something like that.

On review, it was discovered the player had missed part of the pre-season and wasn't there when they practised it.

So because of something not going right in the earliest part of a pre-season cost the GF in the final seconds of a season.

As for your sage advice, anyone who can afford (is stupid enough) to pay $500 for a $50 bottle of French vodka (yuck) can also afford to pay someone else to protect it; especially when. It doing so might cost them a $750,000 contract. It’s not rocket science

Sorry Jake but surely the club is smart enough to consider the thoughts of it's Captain, other teammates, the mood of it's member base and understand most Collingwood supporters IMO will only accept 2 of the 3 possible outcomes you outline when it makes a decision on the future of de Goey.

For mine the day the allegation of inappropriate touching disappeared was the moment that de Goey would eventually be welcomed back by Collingwood and the AFL administration.

It would be the height of stupidity for the club to cut de Goey now, a spectacular own goal (even by our own recent lofty standards) that will hand an opposition club a gifted player for sweet f*** all.

Sorry but the thought of that fills me with rage and I suspect I would not be alone.

No, only two options should be open to the club and de Goey will either play for Collingwood next season and beyond or 2022 will be his final year in the black'n'white and we will milk him for all his trade worth at the completion of the season.

The most recent club statement concerning JDG indicates to me that the football department have backed themselves into a corner and really have no idea as to how to extricate themselves without losing face.
Middle paragraph is just a load of mumbo jumbo waffle to avoid saying "we acted too hastily". Preferably, they could've waited for the "complete review of the facts" before taking such strong action and dishing out punishment that is just looking more and more disproportionate and ridiculous.

He needed a reality check and being temporarily banned from the club was probably the right call. However, now that the hearing has been delayed he should be brought back into the fold. As others have suggested, I fear the club has backed themselves into a corner and don't know how to get out. To be honest if I hear the slogan "side by side" one more time I'll throw up.

One problem with letting him re-join the group is that the game plan and structures practiced by the team around Jordan`s role would be thrown into chaos and be a wasted exercise if the court case in january goes haywire. It might be best to have the rest of the playing group getting in sync with each other and staying focussed on the training track without him and if the court case goes his way ,then he works his way back in to the team and if it goes pear shaped for him ,then the team structure is not impacted and they can carry on into the 2022 season. Just my thoughts.

I’d honestly be surprised if any club builds their game plan around specific players, but even if they do then such plans would need to be super flexible given anyone can get injured at any time. So I’m pretty sceptical that this would in any way be a factor in keeping him out of the club. (Anyway, at this time of year, aren’t they mostly running on sand dunes and the like? Pretty sure the whiteboards won’t be emerging any time soon … )
