Personally I’m glad he’s out, grand slams played with none of the other top players will have at least an imaginary * next to them.
I voted 5.Nicholas Kyrgios
@NickKyrgios
Swap me for jokers incident. ‘Accidentally hitting the ball kid in the throat’ how many years would I be banned for?

No fan of Djokovic, but got to say it’s a stiff penalty for what was basically an accident. As a comparison, imagine if Collingwood automatically lost a final because a player kicked the ball away in frustration on the quarter time siren and it hit an umpire or cameraperson in the head.

red cards should be brought in, not necessarily for that though!eddiesmith wrote:Poor comparison because it’s an individual sport
But if a player did it at any non AFL level, they’d risk being red carded, absolutely
the brissy hits on Nick Riewoldt shoulder come to mind, and Barry Hall, anything he did!

I mean, in soccer you’d get red carded for being in the vicinity of Neymar when he trips over a patch of grass, so I’m not sure that’s the best comparison.
Not sure how other sports compare, but in isolation I do find the whole sportsmanship pantomime in tennis a bit ridiculous. For me, Djokovic’s action was about on par with accidentally running into and knocking out the umpire in a football game (it was certainly no more malicious). Individual sport or not, you really want a match of any kind decided that way?

Oh god, I don’t know I’d trust the AFL umpires enough!think positive wrote:red cards should be brought in, not necessarily for that though!eddiesmith wrote:Poor comparison because it’s an individual sport

Opening minute of the grand final we’d end up with Pendles red carded!!!
The NRL is doing a crackdown and someone got sent off because whilst he was lining someone up the ref called time and as he didn’t hear, got sent off for an out of play hit...Wasn’t even high but that didn’t matter!

But with a sport that had DQ or red cards, they’d be sent off.David wrote:I mean, in soccer you’d get red carded for being in the vicinity of Neymar when he trips over a patch of grass, so I’m not sure that’s the best comparison.

Actually, in soccer, you get sent directly to COVID-19 isolation for being in the vicinity of Neymar: https://www.foxsports.com.au/football/n ... 721c06073eDavid wrote:I mean, in soccer you’d get red carded for being in the vicinity of Neymar when he trips over a patch of grass, so I’m not sure that’s the best comparison.

gees the guy really is an arrogant tool!
"The lineswoman incident was bad enough. It was not intentional but it was reckless. It was clear grounds for disqualification yet Djokovic argued the point for 10 minutes, knowing what was at stake.
"You're going to choose a default in this situation?" he asked the chair umpire and tournament referee. "My career, Grand Slam, centre stage?"
Djokovic - who stooped to arguing: "She doesn't have to go to hospital for this" - then fled Flushing Meadows without facing questions from the press. It was unbecoming of the world No.1, let alone a historic champion.'
i will always be a Rafa fan, but i didnt mind this guy, however this is not a pretty read! i wonder if he is enjoying the snow!!
