JLC your comments imply that you are having a crack at my comments as you stated "The rest do not warrant a reply".
Your opinions on this cannot be taken overly serious as you are too emotionally involved. This can be seen by your insulting of members for having a different opinion than yours.
If people dont like democratic voting systems it would be best for them to take themselves and their families and move to a country like China or others with dictatorships.
Why cant people accept different opinions from their own without having to get insulting about it.
What has the way members cheer got to do with this debate. The debate is about elections not cheering.I hear people bitch and moaning about others bitching and moaning yet these same ones are doing the same.
Lets stick to the topic and not make it personal.

I am over this topic and am slightly regretful of having got involved.
Though I have enjoyed the debate and discusiion.
My final comments on this are that I will support all on the committee including the new members.
I have had my say and thats it.I hope the success of the cheersquad continues and lets all have fun.
At the end of the day lets never get clouded by the political propaganda and lets all focus on being kind to one another and having a good time.

This debate has arisen mainly I feel because most were left in the dark as to what was going to take place and I believe most had the belief that voting would have been the norm but not so.
I have only had 1 year in the squad with my family and enjoyed it with reservations in the latter part of the season when it turned a little pear shaped and were my children are concerned I become very protective and to this end, some will know what I am on about, is were my reservations kick in and I have strong feelings as to an APPOINTMENT in this case as I firmly believe that the squads future lies in the younger ones and that they should not be the subject of abuse in any way or form,no exceptions.
To those who were and still are on the committee a great job done by all and to those in the back rooms thanks to you all as well. THANKS.

I am not in the cheersquad or involved with the cheersquad(no sorry i did help out with the game over stickers) but by the sounds of this thread the cheersquad was in shambles a few years ago.
I think the criticism on joffa is very harsh he has given up a lot of his own time but so has a lot of you.I think joffa has put our cheersquad on the map and opposition cheersquads would be envy of us. It would'nt suprise me if other clubs come up with chants and some gimmick like the gold jacket when there teams win this year.It looks like joffa wants to share things around so he is not always in the spotlight but i say good on him if people on this board bag him they are just jelous of what more profile he has given our club.

I think people need to realise that the Cheer Squad is not a democracy, and hasn't been for a few years now. There haven't been any actual elections since the Kath Johnstone days, as far as I can recall.
I really don't think it matters. Sometimes enlightened despotism is a better form of government than democracy. You've only got to look at some of the idiot politicians we elect in this country to see the shortcomings of democracy.
On a more positive note ... if we can just sod all this bickering for 5 minutes ... I just want to say how pleased I am to hear that Peter is the new chant leader. Whoever appointed him to that position obviously knows what they're doing, because I can't think of anyone more deserving of that role. I sat next to him at the Preliminary and Grand Finals ... and that guy is the real deal. He's loud. And he's relentless. Just what you need in a chant leader.
Congratulations, Peter ... It's a tough job ... and you'll probably cop a bit of flack from time to time. It goes with the territory, so be warned.
But it's a great honour ... and you thoroughly deserve it.

Alf your right about the last time there was a election it was 1999 the last year of Kath Johnston when she was sharfted by the clubs decision to have Kerry Baptist the president of the cheer squad and joffa came in then or a year later. Joffa picked up chant and we became louder and louder. It should be upto the members to have their say/vote.
well hopefully we get to vote for the year 2005
Let's just get on with 2004 and be loud, proud like 2003 and stick it right up the clubs

Just let me further add i have a wondeful relationship with just about everyone in the cheersquad, there are the odd one or two who dont like myself for whatever reason well thats their problem, im probably one of the most friendliest persons going around
The problem with the others is they are no longer cheersquad they were once in a different era, i think some people are shit jealous of the exposure and success of this current cheersquad.
No one deserves some of the crap iv'e copped from these people, i dont go out of my way to harrass and annoy the crap out of others and sometimes it's just rediculous, if it happens again this year it will indeed be most dissapointing.
The cheersquad has become a wonderful place for all members and the kids and we've worked hard to achieve this but at all times we must remember in the wrong hands all the hard work can go down the drain.
Elections or non elections it doesnt bother me, my concern is to make sure the squad grows in friendship and in stature and makes all collingwood people welcome not only here in melb but all games interstate as well.
We have built something special lets not wreck it, our main concern is comming together on game day and as one ignite the crowd in supporting the collingwood football club.
Remember this the squad hasnt become a full house for nothing it just didnt happen
It happened because others could see through bulletin boards such as nicks that our attempts to ressurect this great squad was sincere and honest..have a look at the enjoyment the kids get from being in the squad,
look at the many friendship that have been formed and will last a lifetime
We do what we do for collingwood nothing more nothing less, we do what we do to stick it up all them collingwood haters, lets not embarrass ourselves on public boards such as this one, the cheersquad forum some years ago through discussion with mike was given to us to promote the cherssquad with friendliness, ideas and good will.
Lets keep it that way!!!!!
cheers everyone

Can I firstly say that the whole point of Nicks board is for everyone to have a say and put forward their opinion- and I think that has happened.
Now lets move on- make this the last post!
We have a huge task in front of us-our GREATEST record is in danger.
A premiership is our ONLY focus.
We must stick together, we must unite, we must be as one....
No one can touch the Magpie Army in full flight.
Bring on Round 1 because there is no bigger disorganised rabble than those Tigers.
Come join the cheersquad..a million voices singing as one...As you walk through the storm...hold your head up high...and dont be afraid......
LETS GO MAGPIES........ENVY OF THE NATION...DOMINATION!!!!!!!!

1 preseason game lost and we are already at each others throats.
I agree with a lot of what Mr Nokia has said, I dont need to re-iterate as people know my feelings towards certain members in the CS, these originated when after putting in countless hours of work, sometimes until 12am making the banner, we'd show up on game day to be abused by the unofficial / outers. Many of these now make the CS their home. Wait until the Pies have a bad season which i hope does not happen but it is inevitable, will this group of "bandwagoners" attend banner making and stay until the end of a game? Some people now dont even last until the end of the game as they have their hands covering their face whilst trying to hide behind the fence.
As for the cliquey group, it still happens.
As for the bell, what a stupid idea!!! I was in the CS when a certain unofficial who now resides in the front row was one of the main instigators for getting a 73yr old man thrown out of the G on a Friday night when the Pies played the swans. This old man would ring his bell every time the swans kicked a goal, sure enough we heard it a few times in the 1st qtr and people complained. Once he was asked to stop he refused and was escorted out, tearing up his m/ship in the process, all this whilst the unofficials boasted in their glory. Might have helped if you had consulted the club / AFL over whether you can use a bell as the bell is used as an emergency for when the siren fails, as it did last year.

Well welcome cass
Its good to be replying to someone we all know
The concern about squad members leaving the squad before the final siren was addressed at the last cheersquad meeting lets just say people will be encouraged that this practise is not acceptable.
As far as the bell ringing goes i think you have misunderstood the bell ringing will only ring for about 10 seconds not every 10 seconds!! it will be the signal to hoist the huge 'game over' banner now under construction to be raised when game is over.
But as you know mick we are allways open to suggestions and ideas thats why we got this cheersquad forum onto nicks, if the bell thing is not acceptable 'well you know me mick it wont be a problem,i'll come back with another idea!!
And yes mick some of the things i did in the past in the old unofficial days im not proud of.. but i know longer drink at the football and fight and make a fool of myself and i certainly dont go around belittling fellow supporters with ' wanker banners' or wanker chants.
And as far as being slumped against the fence mick during the last quarter grand final day..yep im guilty.
Well over 2 years ago mick we sent a letter to the sydney football club apologising the way we all carried on that day resulting in 'the bellman from sydney having his bell conviscated..we got a sincere and lovely response, actually mick i did tell bellman to shove the bell up his arse dont know if he heard me or not, but for what its worth i wasnt the one who went to security.
Its time to move on mick, the only times you and mr nokia come onto cheersquad forum is to abuse myself in someway or belittle the great work this squad has done and is doing.
Give it a rest mate.
PS your comments re walking out in games when the pies are going shit, well 5 or 6 years ago mick when we'd go every week and watch the pies get murdered we'd just about be the only ones left in the last quarter.
We dont have to like one another mick but as good collingwood people lets
just get on with having fun whilst we support the pies
