Yep he does look like Pendles and he has the same lope too; has a great awareness of space.
The kid will be a player. Give him some more experience and then rest him.
MM's strategy is obvious; play the kids on a big stage and give them a variety of roles.
Was it just me or did Mick seem remarkably unMalthouse-like on Saturday night?
Perhaps he's starting to realise he has a team with real talent developing.
I know this will probably upset you Tess, but I reckon Mick is looking at the list and thinking that he has a depth of class and talent at his disposal now that he has never had before.
He's allowing himself to look ahead a bit....and he likes what he sees........A LOT!
So do I.
Collingwood circa 2007 has a real look of class about it.
We'll drop games and we'll scrape into the eight again, but we should be like MM; watching the development of a good team is pretty exciting.
I remember watching the young guns of 1988 strutting their stuff and thinking the same thing. Two years later I had my hands on that cup.
I'm getting pretty excited but just hope the Pies can get the slump over with BEFORE I get home this year; the last few years I've arrived in mid July just in time to witness fade outs.
Time for a nice shiraz and another look at the last quarter!

thats nothing to be ashamed of.Peter wrote:Still unsure...think he may have to make room for the General next week...osrry Goldsack out - Jimmy Clement in...
has the height and pace to suggest he can play that 3rd or 4th medium-tall defender, or even take a small forward. Can play wing aswell. Servicable disposal and seems to have a footy brain.

When Maxwell was being well beaten by Clark. I reckon MM should have put Goldsack on him. Reason why is because he has height and pace and seems to defend his spot under the ball quite well for a newcomer.
Give this kid some time he will become an asset for the Pies. However, Clement hopefully will be back next week and he will more than likely be ommitted.

All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Didn't play well at all and we carried him.
Doesn't have the confidence or the body yet, which explains some timid efforts.
Very talented , flexible player from the VFL showings I've seen , just needs to believe he belongs and he'll be fine. Will need to make way this weekend though , which is the reality of such a cut throat game.

Make that 1/2 the people at the training session on friday, from 50 meters away they could be twins.ad4eva wrote:me three.panga wrote:I got confused at one stage thought pendles was he and vice-versa
Whether your coming back from an injury or making your debut players always say how the intencity, pressure and speed is considerably better on any given day in the AFL compared to the VFL, yesterday's game was at the extreme end of all catergories.
Yes he did make some mistakes but what he would have come away with at the end of the match is something that would usually take 4 or 5 games. He was playing in defence on a top player, i thought he probably should have been on Hahn, however he didnt have his colours lowered, showed enough to suggest that he has the right credentials for AFL footy
and play 150 games for the pies.
Like Pendles, Toovey, Thomas and Cox he can play in multiple positions.

Tyson Goldsack
Out of the 4 rookies(so to speak) IMO Goldsack has been the most consistent even though he has played only a few games.
Dickie has great pace but I think he needs to put some skin on the bone.
Cox was improving with each game as he became more confident but the indiscretions are a problem and he needs to get his personal issues in order.
Toovey after a great start and a few goals has been disappointing lately and I think he needs to go back to Willy to get some consistency back into his game.
Goldsack on current form should be an automatic selection.
