Good to get away with the straight swap, it is a strange one the paying part of his contract, yes it is minimal but its usually when a high paid player is no longer wanted at his club and the new club wont pay what he is currently contracted on, have to be a first the old club paying part of a contract for a player who has left for more money...

Bingo. I was thinking last night how else the Pies could sweeten the deal without additional players or picks.
It's clever and not a massive cost.
Sorry but how do you know this for a fact without actually knowing the exact figure???...

Trust the club, lazza.

Adams is a gun. Thomas wanted to go.

We'd be lucky to be paying close to 100% of the cap with all the senior exits and our young list, so nothing lost there

Who cares if we have to pay a small portion of his wage for two years if it means we get Adams and Shaw gets to go to the club of his choice.

Better outcome than if he went to Geelong for Collingwood and Shaw.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Poor Lazza, how about we do the maths and I put it to you that Shaw was on 500k, we pick up Adams on lets say 400k that leaves 100k in the black. Now that 100k if that's the figure would be what they are given GWS for Shaw for two years. Reality no loss just a perception amongst the nuffys we are out of pocket.

What we save on Adams contract is what is paid to GWS and for two years only.

I have forgotten who traitor Thomas was, just that I didn't have too much knowledge about Adams. However I DO trust the club, Hine and in fact your judgement so that makes me quite happy.

OK you can call me a bloody nuffy but doesn't that mean that WE still pay hundred grand x 2 for Heater at GWS?

Heater leaving will be good for him and the team I think. That said, never happy to lose a player of his quality but I think getting Adams as compo definitely makes it easier to swallow.

I reckon we should have been given Dean Brogan also.

Heath didn't leave for more money, he was pushed out because of his behavior. Don't ever think Heath doesn't love Collingwood. He did everything he possibly could for the club and I've heard him talk about his love for the club on more than one occasion.

I'm just relieved that this stalemate is over.

A couple of years ago I would've been flabbergasted at the thought of losing Heath Shaw, Dale Thomas, Alan Didak and Darren Jolly. But I can sit here right now feeling very happy to have got Taylor Adams, Jesse White and have picks 6 and 10 in the up coming draft.

Fantastic work Collingwood.
