He had 2 brothers playing in the GVFL Grand Final today.
I have not heard the result yet. But look forward to reading about it in tomorrows local paper.

Awesome quote from last year was Robert Walls on Daisy: "Dale Thomas would eat a footy" - referring to his desire and eagerness to play.

I think he and Thomas are similar players in that respect - they don't seem to get inside their own heads too much and genuinely just enjoy their footy.

The kid has footy nous dripping out his ears. Plays inside and outside with both sides of the body and a temperament to match the skill. Soon as he started to gather senior experience we could see why DAve86 was so rapt to pick him up in that draft. His game against crows in last year's final was colossal as was his contribution on Saturday.

Steele Sidebottom. Superstar

Post by Pied Piper »

25 possessions.

Eight contested.

88 percent disposal efficiency.

Two goals.

Two clearances.

Four tackles.

0 clangers (in a grand final no less).

Just unbelievable and unlucky not to win the Norm Smith himself (second in the voting).

Superstar.

Local boy who's two brothers attained Premiership medals for Shepparton United last weekend. (and yes, Steele was there to see it.)
Looks like Steele has topped them.

He's amazing. Ever since he's come to the club his work rate has been absolutely top notch. You could just see this kid was going to make it right from the start (feel the same about McCarthy). The skills or physical attributes are nothing like as important as the guts and mental application. Lack of the former is why Sidebottom fell to us in the draft. But the latter... Sidebottom, and I feel McCarthy, have this in spades.

Well done Sidey. Today's performance was one to remember.
Well done boys!

What a big game superstar of the highest order. The kind of class that is the difference between honourable defeat and premiership glory.

He and Daisy shine like few others can on the big stage.

Mr. Hine, you are a genius! And MM, your policy of picking big game players and lads of character has been vindicated.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.
