Were there not any points carried over as well from last time? That would make it harder for GWS to downgrade.
No carry-over points anymore - tried on its own merits.
That’s the problem here. I doubt it’s as bad as last week’s, so the precedent is a fine. He can do this every week now and never get suspended for it.

Actually, the tribunal can do as they please. That is, we gave you a fine last time, but your ‘benefit of the doubt’ chances no longer stand. Stick your hands anywhere near the face of an opponent again and it’s a week...

Kind of cant believe Greene has been given a week.

In all honesty he should have been suspended last week. The Lions must be spewing.

How stupid of him to do it again, in a final, and in the game right after getting away with it. I think he's been done just for being stupid and doing it a second time.

GWS will appeal, but how can he get away with it in a second straight week? I know it doesnt look as bad as the Bont one, but what an idiot.

He should never be allowed to play again. It's not just "stupid", it's evil. This sort of scum act does more to harm the image of the game than 250 betting scandals could ever do. He should have been given half a season with a 5-year ban suspended for last week's effort.

Really, in what universe is such appalling conduct acceptable? Why should anyone be at risk of damage to their sight because this piece of filth is in their pack?

But that is the problem the tribunal will now have. He pleased guilty and was given a fine due to his remorse, etc. But 7 days latter he has gone out and done exactly the same thing. Doubt the the tribunal will be as lenient this time. I'm tipping Jeff Gleeson will be somewhat embarrassed and annoyed on a personal level as Green was let off with a fine on his recommendation, I don't think he will be as 'accomodating' this time.

The only way out of the for the Giants is to make the tribunal believe he didn't do what he was charged with.

Here’s footage of the incident, by the way. Can’t see much of the contact, but you see him reach in and Neale’s reaction.

There is evidently a war going on behind the scenes inside the AFL between Michael Christian, who lays the charges against Toby Greene, and Jeff Gleeson who is supposed to vigorously prosecute those charges before the AFL Tribunal. The problem is that Gleeson has effectively watered down Christian’s charges by telling the tribunal that a fine would be appropriate punishment. WTF.

Leaves me asking, is Nicola Gobbo really Jeff Gleeson in drag?

This reminds me of a schoolyard issue where a teacher lets a troubled kid off with a warning and an assurance that they learn from the experience and don't do it again. Then they do it again the next day, making the teacher feel foolish and irritated by the lack of respect and broken trust.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me.

With Toby Greene, it's all inconclusive. If you zoom in and slow it down......blah blah blah...........................
The other guy wasn't injured; didn't go off the ground.....folks, don't get your hopes up. He'll play against us next Saturday.

In the school system, you can be suspended for “consistently” doing the wrong thing. It can work in a cumulative way against someone. And fair enough - if you don’t heed warnings and keep doing them same thing wrong, then eventually you may cop it.
Is that how the AFL works? Did Greene cop it because they are sick of him doing the same thing - even though each thing in isolation may not be worth a week on its own?

According to Kane Cornes going after Greene is a witch hunt.
Sure thing dickhead, I wonder if your team was facing GWS in a PF you’d have the same opinion?

Also, go ahead & go back through history since the 70s, look at who has actually been suspended a week out from a GF, notice who the players are & who they played for.
