I should mention that that the 23 former chiefs were, of course, fully backed by the then-serving current leaders. Naturally, currently serving officials were unable to make public comment at that time but we all know what their views, and the gist of their their in-confidence reports to the do-nothing Morrison Government were.

Climate action group indeed. https://emergencyleadersforclimateaction.org.au/

It's a climate change lobby group.

The group is led by Greg Mullins who is also a Councillor at the Climate Council and is in fact a project of the Climate Council, formed in April 2019.

There'd be very little doubt that wanting a meeting with the PM was a publicity stunt.
Emergency Leaders for Climate Action (ELCA) exists to catalyse all levels of government to act on climate change.

Informed by climate science and centuries of combined experience, Emergency Leaders for Climate Action (ELCA) is working to ensure that fire and emergency services are equipped to protect Australian communities from increasingly frequent and damaging extreme weather events.

We are actively shaping the national conversation about climate change and extreme weather, by drawing the media spotlight when and where it’s needed, engaging with all state and federal bushfire inquiries and commissions and through convening and engaging with the people who need to be involved in the discussion.

^But the thing is they were dead right. Even the motleyest deoderant-avoiding greens were dead right. So even if the 23 were post-career left voters, how does that somehow change the commonsense and correct nature of their advice? This was the very same argument used to dismiss not just 23 former fire chiefs, or 21 or 18.23, but the entire scientific consensus on global warming as well, expressed clearly and constantly revised upwards.

All this shows is that the Glibs have had a corrupting effect so bad, not even dumb-doggie-doo obvious advice was making it to through.

A dead crow on the Hume Highway knew radical action was needed, though. Are you saying that following global and scientific report after report, and study after study, that still Captain Hillsong and his dumbarsed band failed to notice that this could happen?

Are you saying he was so sheltered and world ignorant, and so generally intellectually ill-equipped, so religiously fanatical, and so peurilely partisan, he dismissed the bleeding obvious on the basis of tawdry politics? That's even worse. It's Soviet in its dimness. Chernobyl-stupid in its complete cultural failure.

"Look, Captain Hillsong, we know you're miles too thick to be held responsible for anything yourself, and every scientist on the planet is using Australia as an example of extreme weather events, and potential ecosystem collapse due to global warming, and have done for over a decade and with increasingly upward-revised numbers, but that's okay we have convened a special lunchtime prayer circle and they report no special messages on fire risk."

How do you know they were dead right if you haven't read their stuff?

Is this bit dead right?
We call on all State and Territory Governments to:
Provide increased resources to enable forestry, national parks, urban and rural fire services to increase environmentally sensitive fuel reduction and fire mitigation programs.
Focus on climate change adaptation and mitigation programs while taking strong action to significantly reduce state / territory emissions.
Cease cutting the budgets and resources of forestry, national parks, urban and rural fire services, both directly and through instruments such as “efficiency dividends”, so that the services can increase operational capacity to deal with our “new normal” of catastrophic weather risks.
The point is, it's not just 23 people who decided to stand up, it's 23 people who were recruited to a group because of their background and political views. I suspect if someone tried it wouldn't be hard to find 23 people with similar backgrounds but opposing views.

^But that's a red herring, isn't it? I'm not sure what you think normally happens? A heavenly being provides perfect information and promises to take the blame to lift the stress of risk management off a leader's shoulders? Leadership is responsible for the processes it implements to assess risk-related information. That's why they're supposed to have broad awareness, high intelligence, disciplined process and an ability to hire the very best to advise them. That's the very job they're paid to do :?

But this isn't even tricky. It's just basic reasoning: radical environmental shift and radical environmental risk by its very nature, being unpredictable, is going to demand a special risk mitigation programme.

"Okay so Fred, what's our special risk management programme to deal with this? What are the estimated costs of getting it wrong? WTF? That's we've been warned for years now by everyone. You've got three months."

"Oh, greeeen scientists? We might lose four news cycles? Okay, cancel that."

Getting the obvious so wrong is just criminal. They have zealously and fanatically refused to listen and refused to take action and refused to fulfil their duties because people don't support their party. As I say, criminal Soviet farce.

It strikes me as a very odd thing to even try to defend. You're basically saying no one is to ever be held accountable for risk management because risk is rarely absolute, and in any case that's not really a manager's job :?

And what's particularly interesting about that content you have bolded? Is it from this? https://www.beagleweekly.com.au/post/em ... me-weather

I don't know why I even try to engage sensibly with you, you draw incorrect assumptions and go down multiple different overly complicated rabbit holes. FMD. Do you have normal conversations with normal humans often?

The bit I quoted and bolded came from here.

https://emergencyleadersforclimateactio ... statement/

From their own website that you clearly haven't bothered to read.

Tannin was at pains to hammer the point that these were 23 former chiefs who came forward purely to call Morrison to account and dismissed out of hand Eddies suggestion that they were Green Activists.

Fact is, they are a green lobby group, recruited and put together with a climate change agenda 8 months before the 2019/20 bushfires as a project of the Climate Council..

Seeking an audience with the Prime Minister during a bush fire emergency to push their climate change agenda is just grandstanding publicity seeking plain and simple.

Especially when they were offered a meeting with the minister and refused because they only wanted to meet the PM...

Another backward right fail that has cost us all a fortune and many millions their lives as the fossil fuels chickens start coming home to roost in courts and boardrooms worldwide:
The oil industry, long a political heavyweight in Washington, suffered a series of extraordinary blows on Wednesday after shareholders, customers and the courts turned on the industry out of concern over climate change.

Who is surprised?
Despite Ample Shots and Incentives, Vaccine Rates Lag Far Behind in the South

Alabama, Louisiana and Mississippi have the lowest vaccination rates in the country, increasing the risk of virus surges there.

A range of theories has emerged about why the South, which as of Wednesday was home to eight of the 10 states with the lowest vaccination rates, lags behind the rest of the country: hesitancy from conservative white people, concerns among some Black residents, longstanding challenges when it comes to health care access and transportation.
