Dave - what are you nuts ??!!

Read the article - Fraser has true pasion for the Pies and he is our next captain.

Lost 8kgs and still tried to come back.

Fraser will be unreal in 2006 and definitely is an untouchable.

Someone mentioned he's played 108 games. Well, I could count on one hand the number of games he's really dominated. In fact, I would struggle to name 3.

I hate the Pavlich comparisons as much as anyone (and I don't rate Pavlich, either) but he was taken at #4 in the same draft as Josh, and has been named All-Australian three times - a full back, on ball, and at centre half-forward! Does Fraser come close to deserving AA honours?

I agree, Fraser has talent - but that's a word we throw around when we have someone we are sure will be a good player, but they just aren't yet.

In my opinion, Fraser is absolutely expendable. We could cut him and not lose too much in the way of team structure, and we could gain a great deal. There's no point trading Fraser in 2 or 3 years if he still hasn't come good, because we'll get duds for him. Anyway, he's a country boy and may not be able to play at his best for Collingwood - maybe he needs somewhere like Geelong to play his best.

Maybe a trade is best for both the Club and Fraser.

Streak - you think that fraser hasn't ever dominated games of footy well then head off to OPSM. I have seen him kick bags against Melb, West Coast, Carlton, Freo, Hawthorn. He was definitely BOG against Sydney in 2003 at Telstra Stadium and has embarrased the saints and the cats on numerous occassions. Sure he might not be the best ruckman but he can often find the goals better than a lot of other ruckman. To trade him would extremely stupid, it would only be for someone of his equal if not better - on his day he makes us a 3 to 4 Goal better side.

Presti makes us a 3-4 goal better side every day - and I don't hear anyone calling him a matchwinner.

Streak - Is that the same Presti that Lloyd toyed with.

Fraser and Presti are not in the same class - one is a youg guy who has his best football in front of him and Presti is a serviceable player that is now being exposed for lack of pace and poor strength but can improve.

I will still take Fraser's improvement over Presti's any day.

Now i've read this post 2 or 3 times and am pretty sure its genuine! No sarcasm, no humour, just a well constructed factual post ...... i think someones in love?!??!?!?!!?

no no no

we saw this season what happens when we can't get Fraser on the park.

Fraser is not number 1 in any postiion, but is great in almost all positions. He's tall so is a great ruck option, but has superb ground skills, can take a contested mark, has very good defensive skills, is a superb reader of the play. A great kick for goal...

Pavlich plays forward (and on-ball)....Fraser has mainly been a ruck option for us. He has been ruck becuase in the past we had NO ruck option. When Fraser gets to play a high roving forward you will see his true value. When you see him start in the centre next to Richards rucking and see his ground skills combined with his strong marks you will see his true value.

Yeah Lone Star I know its nearly a first but believe me it does not happen often. Been serious is a very dangerous hobby in life.

Oh look, I hope he does. I really do. If we hang onto him, I hope he develops into the fire-breather we think he could be.

However, he will need to show something special next year.

I agree, he could be very good - but to suggest he's the bee's knees at the moment is excessive in my book.

Theres no doubt he is going to be at collingwood next year.

My point is that our best ruck is probably richards. Most agree Fraser is not our best ruck option although i believe it is where he has most to offer.

Tarrant, Rocca, T Cloke and Rusling will be our 4 best forwards. Rusling and Cloke are better below their knees than josh, who by the way is very agile. I think Fraser is a better contested mark perhaps that Rusling although i havent seen Rusling do a lot of pack work, he is mostly on the lead.

Most would agree that he is not a backman and probably wont fill holes in defence.

His best position would be as a wingman, where he is perhaps a touch tall, he is lacking fitness. An extraodinary pre season would do him the world of good.

However, im just saying that if Fraser has another injury interrupted year, surely Trav Cloke and Rusling will become the 3rd and 4th tall up forward, Richards will re-establish himself in the ruck and hopefully one of our draft choices plays a wing role, with Didak, johnson lonie on the other wing. This would leave Fraser as our 2nd ruck option, behind Richards, where he is too valuable to be in that position.

If Fraser has a brilliant 2006, he will become one of the most valuable players in the league no doubt because as shades said earlier, he is good in almost every position.

Big men take time to develop. Fraser has taken time, as has Richards. With an injruy free year in 2006, they can and will go places.

This is article of Josh Fraser in today's paper...bit of a good read...he wants to mainly play in the ruck and also foward

Playing in the ruck? Good on him for stating his intentions and giving it a decent crack, but I really think that Richards should be first choice ruck, with Rogan folating around up forward and taking stints in the ruck towards the end of the quarter.

Ruck - Forward line , I don't care . Just as long as he plays .
A bloke his size who gets/fights for the ball at ground level is an absolute
luxury & after all the time we've been waiting for him to bulk up & get over injuries I'm expecting huge things from him this year .

Then again I expect huge things from everyone who wears Black & White
every year , & I confidently tell anyone who'll listen that we're a real chance for the flag .

Please don't let this be another year where I have to dine on humble pie
cos I seriously need a change of diet .

After watching the grand finals from the 70's lately I would suggest that Fraser be used in the forward line in the same way that the Pies used Peter Moore. They are very similar in the way in which they play the game and from what I saw Moore lined up at CHF or FF and anytime there was a ruck situation from the CHF line down, Moore would take the hitouts leaving Len Thompson as a loose player accross the centre line/backline where he would ruck in that zone.....surely this will be a good option for the pies and would prolong the life of our ruck options at the centre bounce...just a suggestion...
