So just like most Reporters. Have Little Idea. Only Believe it when it Club or Player/Manager announces the Info

The Age reported the story last night Dave. Said Collingwood had gone cold on Kreuzer and were now of the opinion that we should concentrate on developing our own ruck talent of Grundy, Witts and Cox. The article said that Collingwood believes Cox will play senior footy in 2016.

Yes - So Nothing from the Club.

Witts could be Traded as part of the Treloar Trade

I thought this story was a bit odd. It reads as if the Pies just suddenly realised Kreuzer would take Witts' spot and make him tradable. Surely this was obvious as soon as Kreuzer became an option. I can't see why we'd want him unless it was to make Treloar cheaper by adding Witts to the deal.

Anyway, happy to keep Witts.

^^ I agree. What changed from Wednesday? Was there a failed medical? Did somebody read the riot act over Witts?

Hard to believe the club's recruiting panel would be so heavily into a player and then suddenly have a change of heart. Did somebody at the top force a review, or was it simply that Kreuzer failed the medical?

A few other possibilities..

GWS could have told us that they don't want Witts, or that they don't rate him highly enough to make it worth trading him from our perspective.

or

The AFL caught wind of that sneaky deal we were trying to do with Carlton and GWS(if it even existed) and told all 3 clubs it wasn't on.

or

The AFL privately informed Carlton and Brisbane that they wont be getting top end compensation for Kreuzer and Luenberger, and so the above deal fell through off the back of that.

or

Witts saw what was happening and told his manager that he will refuse any trade.

My money would be on your idea of a failed medical that we're keeping quiet in the hope that Richmond or the Doggies over look it and grab Kreuz anyway, but who knows in this industry. I think it unlikely that Ed or anyone would over rule Dekka Hine. Pretty sure he has final say on all recruiting.
