Since Round 9 - snapshot of Darcy Cameron vs all rucks
Ranked 1 in marks
Second in tackles
3rd in contested marks
4th in goals
5th in disposals

Pretty handy numbers.
Oh - this one is good. Cameron / Cox combo are 11/0

Cox is very handy at times but surely a Grundy / Cameron combo would be much more effective. It's very simplistic to think the current combo is the main reason for our winning streak. I would argue that with Grundy in we'd be more likely winning by greater margins. While Grundy may not kick as many goals as Cox I'd be interested to see a 'score involvement' comparison between the two. I'm liking the current setup but in no way believe that we're a better side without Grundy

I really want Brodie to stay at the Pies.
Is there a chance we can review his contract? Maybe he agrees to take a slight pay cut to stay where he wants to.
I know he loves the club.

GW would be all over this^^^
But Grundy is not going to renege a lucrative contract when others are on similar money already, (but lesser in length). Problem that keeps raising up is how to keep who we really want and how to bring in who we want. Grundy is a unwanted commodity in comparison to the cause.

No doubt we’re better with Grundy, but remember what it’s costing us, we could use that million dollars much better IMO.

I would like him to take a 20% hit, even then he’s getting overs, but I know what I’m telling my boss if asks me the same question.

Buddy left Hawthorn and they didn't collapse, Sydney got him and they didn't quite get there.

Geelong got Cameron and Dangerfield and it hasn't won them a flag, yet.

Richmond got Lynch and they won more flags, but they were in the window.

Melbourne got May and Lever, and whilst it didn't have an immediate impact, they got there.

Teams don't win flags on the the back of one player, Brodie makes us better in the middle, but so would another A grade mid.

If we can trade Grundy, and get more than one player that make the whole team, then we are in front. I don't think Graham Wright is going to under-estimate Brodie's trade value.

Brodie is an A grader as a ruck, but we currently have 3 ruck options (not A grade) apart from him.

We are doing very well so far in 2022, but moving forward our list has deficiencies, and you need to give something to get something.

I don't just want a crack at a flag (although I'd take it this year) I want a dynasty.
Would you trade Grundy for free if someone was willing to pick up his entire contract? I reckon I would, I don’t see anyone picking up his contract and handing over a first round pick, or 2 first round picks as some have suggested, I reckon the best we’ll get is a late first and we ware 150kpa, and I’d jump at that.

We obviously have cap room for McStay, not sure we have the room for Taranto without trading Grundy.

Thank God you aren’t managing the list

Just watching tonight’s Brisbane - St Kilda game. McStay does a lot of ruck work around the ground. We have the option next year of just operating the one ruckman and setting up down back with another big bodied defender (Kreuger?) to help out Moore. Then I don’t think we’d miss the second ruckman. And the money we save on the Grundy contract frees us to pursuit another good midfielder like Taranto.

Come on Wrighty, the Board, just cut the crap , stop all this rumour and innuendo, bullshit about him, just come out next week, and say hes still very much a required Collingwood player, next season and beyond. Enough is enough, just put this too bed now, for Chirssakes, just do it.

I think people need to relax and let Wright and co do their job. Only they have all the information about our salary cap, player needs, trade options, draft choices and the attitudes, wants and levels of commitment of our players. There is no reason to rush anything, just to appease some nervous supporters. I have a lot of confidence in Wright and our footy department to make the right calls. It will all pan out in due course.

What if Grundy isn't a very much required player?

With successive injuries and a stress fracture in his ankle, the club might know he is another Daisy Thomas. Great player, until injury became structural. We don’t know what they know, and it is best we leave them to make the best judgement, and reserve our opinions to matters we can see, i.e. those on the field.

Having watched Grundy train over summers since he joined Collingwood, I am amazed that the stress fracture in the ankle has not happened earlier.

The guy is an absolute workhorse on the training track and gives his absolute all to work on his speed and endurance- is often on the track pumping out the kilometres well after others have adjourned to the gym.

I would imagine part of his rehab will include shedding a few kilograms to maximise his capacity to churn out the gut-running in matches as he has done so successfully in past years.

You don't trade- or give away- a talented big man who is approaching his prime years in the game.

A Cameron/Grundy ruck tandem with back up from McStay (Leigh Brown role) will be lethal in 2023.

This

Plus how much better do some of our other players look playing MCCreas confidence boosting more free game plan? I said all along the structure was too strict, players didn’t feel they could step out and use their initiative. Fear of failure iso so silly, you learn far more from your mistakes than your wins. He deserves a chance
