It is actually a series of dreadful acts and something more than what he got was deserved. He could be out in few months. If he reoffends in a similar action in the next few years the judge should do time. It sends a terrible. Violence against women is ok if you are an ex AFL player, indigineous and on drugs. 4 years would have closer to the mark.
Annoying opposition supporters since 1967.

^^^ Like I asked before, does anybody know what sentence the prosecution sought? I note, for example, that this was heard and determined in the Magistrates' Court, not in the County Court - so someone must have felt this "wasn't that serious" (and, no, I don't mean the sentencing Magistrate).

I had a quick look, P4S, but couldn't find any more detailed information about the case. Do you think it would be up on austlii?

Twiggy Forrest gives $400,000,000 to charity.

That's some serious coin. Good on him.

How much of that is tax-deductible, out of curiosity?

Does it matter?

He recalled his first public donation after years of secretive pledges.

Cynical sod.

Personal deductions IIRC get around 30% back, so you'd have to be in a special situation to give away $400M to get a potential deduction of $120M.

How bout just accept that not all wealthy people are greedy pigs and some actually practice philanthropy.

Considering we have some of the highest personal tax rates in the world, I just feel you're demonstrating early onset dementia if you believe that.

^ my experince is that when people are really rich they like paying more tax, generally. It does not change their lifestyle, and money can buy you the luxury of feeling virtuous.

It also, of course, goes some way to ensuring that the underclass do not rob them of their wealth. Those who can barely afford luxuries because the taxman takes 40 or 50 cents in every extra dollar, yet does not provide good schools or affordable housing, tend to see it differently.

saw a thing on the news about how much money people will need to retire. It stated off with something like "Betty is 54 and so has almost a decade before retirement......."

Nah, sorry, &%%& that. Failing total financial collapse there's no chance in hell I want to be still working at 60.
