Funny that. I hope to be working for another 5-10 years. I love my work (except the shifts and the politics at times). I might not be able to & might end up being sacked if I get another dumb referral from a lazy doctor and react in a less than diplomatic way. In 2 years I'm expecting a big pay rise (equalization with NSW) & I want to make the most of that.
I've got to slow down on the overtime but use my annual & LSL.
Otherwise I'll be a casual employee in Mrs WPT's & her partners business that is, working with people who need assistance with issues related to "hoarding, organising & squalor".

I ran into a bloke I used to work with at Telstra at the Thommo market a few months back. They finally caught up with him and packaged him out after 30+ years, he was working a few days a week as a labourer with a mate who has a landscape gardening business. I could do that.
I've thought of renting a hole in the wall somewhere and turning it into a sort of pop up restaurant. I'd name it "Pot Luck" cos the menu would be what i felt like cooking the day before. All the food pre cooked, joint open two nights a week only, Monday and thursday, BYO only. make enough money to pay the costs and buy a few beers, give me a focus of something to do for part of the week that I can walk away from any time I like.
I'll see how the super goes over the next few years. I'm top loading it now, house is paid off, kids are adults and I don't have a wife or GF to spend it.
Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down.

Och mein got: back at work. After 6.5 weeks of glorious leave back to the rhythm of working again.
Now I've got 2 days off (footy today) I'm facing in the next 15 day stretch two single days off between them. WTF? & they complain why S/L is high. Put out shitful rosters like that then you're inviting S/L.
Last week rode home & got a flat tyre about 3km's from home: rang Mrs WPT it was 11.15pm, atypically she was still up: got a lift home, looks like the tyre is damaged - have to use the old clunker till I buy new tyres.
A Dr at work asks if we can chat with a drug affected boy who was allegedly saying he had psychotic Sx post drug use. Told her we don't 'effen chat, if you want someone to chat they do it your 'effen self (Of course I did not use the word 'effen) Stated we assess risk & mental state not chat. Had she given the person any meds to assist them with their symptoms then reviewed them post the meds & post a sleep - no, of course she hadn't: why would I expect her to do her friggin' job.
Worked with the Police the other day & was listening to police radio: two jobs came through one after the other:
Job one: two youths steal 6 bottles of Johnny Walker: The complainants description: "feral looking" - that should narrow it down!
Job two: An older woman rings through and reports that her incontinent husband won't use the toilet. (sad she felt compelled to call 000 services)
Police will attend both jobs. The juxtaposition of two such jobs, the police have a hard job to do a lot of the time. On that day I spent 5 hours on one job at the scene. That's a long time. The person at the end did not need to come to hospital & I could arrange for the community crisis team to see the person the next day.
The day before saw two people at their homes with police & neither needed to come to the ED & each case was less than 1 hour direct contact time. Usually the people would have been taken to an ED, use up police and ambulance resources let alone hospital resources. I would be happy to accept say half the savings to the state
