Basically if you have a job, you're employer is open and requires you to do your job and you can't do it from home, you're an essential worker for this purpose.

I predict there's going to be some angst and backlash against those groups that will be perceived to have caused this, particularly from retail and hospitality small business.

K wrote:Doctors 'bullied' by hospital administration for asking to wear masks

https://www.theage.com.au/national/doct ... 558v2.html

"A specialist doctor at a major Melbourne public hospital said medical staff anxious about contracting SARS-CoV-2 and unable to access hospital supplies were forbidden from bringing their own cloth or surgical masks to wear.

Those who defied management and wore masks were subject to "black stares" and rebukes, the doctor said."
This doesn’t sound right to me :?

Very early in the piece our health service (public multi campus) issued face shields for all staff - they had to amend and make them voluntary as some went to their unions to complain! Masks at this time were limited to clinicians in risk areas - I think this was whilst waiting for additional stock to arrive and to stop substantial numbers of masks walking out the doors!

And last week with the postcode lockdowns they mandated that all staff clinical and non clinical must wear a Tier 1 PPE at all times in all areas of the health service - this is a surgical mask and a face shield or a surgical mask and safety googles and these are supplied and readily available. Obviously higher Tier PPE for clinicians in high risk areas.

My oldest in Sydney (she left Vic over 2 months ago) tells me that one of the Victorian store workers of Middle Eastern background) got engaged and had 200 f*cking guests a few weeks ago.

Hello, spaceship to planet earth. Just appalling. Could be Christian could be Muslim, but FFS all 200 and the couple need to be jailed pronto.

This is where and why people are going to get cranky, particularly after just getting used to pubs, cafes and restaurants being open and now to close again.

Security guards rooting quarantined travelers then driving Ubers, big family parties for end of Ramadan, Islamic college outbreaks, it seems this latest outbreak is very much triggered by a specific demographic, and that's not just young people.
