This kind of sentiment will continue to increase in numbers as this drags on. It's what Bucks refered to as 'ruining his brand'.
Cloke's 'brand' is being damaged more and more as the days go by.... Less and less supporters are liking him... more and more supporters are being frustrated by this.... and in turn, disliking Cloke.
Where he had 100% support of the loyal supporters, and his team mates, it's now declining daily. It will get to a point where he either signs, but there is a sour taste for some... or he leaves, and becomes hated forever by most.
Either way, the damage is done. Bucks was spot on.
For mine, he can leave and i wont be shattered. The Collingwood Football Club will still be there, side by side. And that's all i really care about to be honest.

Would people here sooner Cloke just wait till the end of the year then say he is going to another club for bigger money.... just like Judd?
Would it be best he say nothing and then let Collingwood re-sign others now with bigger deals and then leave nothing in the cap to accommodate Cloke?
We built the beast that he is and if he is the best CHF in the league then of course demands are going to be made by other clubs to get him.
I know that it is side by side but that also needs to work both ways as well... was Wellers happy to hear he was being placed on the market a couple of years ago? Correct me if I am wrong but also wasn't the Sacks name thrown into the ring at some stage... How hard did the club try and keep Leon. What about the Caff?
If your dedicated to and love the club but the club feels it can use you as a trade for their benefit then they will...side by side out the window and no consideration whatsoever to the youngsters wearing their heros numbers
Cloke has the right to lay his case on the table though I do not agree with the manner he and his father have done so... but I still say he has the right .
In any case if he walks away from our clubs offers I still see him playing a big part in our side for the remainder of the year and thats where my heart lies. If he walks I will be saddened.

More Supporters getting upset with Cloke? More and more supporters are talking out of their arse on this topic more like. The number of completely uninformed comments atributing this that and the other intention to Cloke and his team is just staggering. FFS get a grip. None of us know what is really going on in negotiations and maybe we would do better just to shut the **** up and let the process get done.
The longer these threads get the more unreasonable and ill informed generally the comments get.
Looking at it another way Buckley's comments were quite inflamatory (as evidence see their effects in this thread) and ill timed and he would have better to have said nothing.
If he signs he signs, if he doesn't, he doesnt. Supporters getting abusive and stamping their feet won't make a bit of difference.
I just hope they do a better job of it than they did with Leon which they cocked up royally.

Ronnie, this is a fan site where supporters can vent their spleen. We don't need you telling us that nothing we say has any impact on the contract negotiations. Derrh. Perhaps we should close down Nicks, after all, nothing any of us says about the team has any impact on match day either. All most of us do is share our feelings about the team and our club. You don't have to share my views, and I don't have to share yours, but don't start trying to tell me what to think.
Interestingly, you criticise those of us who are offended by the manner in which Cloke and his camp have conducted and dragged out their negotiations, by making a public display of selfishness and arrogance. You won't criticise the Clokes, yet here you are now laying blame on Bucks.

I've sat back and waited to now. My opinion of Cloke and his father are on public record, I doth preface.
The Cloke brand at the moment equals poor performance, lack of team commitment and making the most money he can by blackmailing our club to a deal that is all his way from what we hear, from his words!
He states he doesn't care about his team mates contracts and livelihoods, it's just about him. Well Mr Cloke junior removed thrice, you might need a few players around you to get the ball out of the centre and down to you to kick your points. And what makes you think you are worth 30-90% more than they are? Swan is our highest paid player on roughly 700k. Why should our club get rid of men who are prepared to commit for less dollars than you and your Cloke brand?
Go to Carlton, make a million. Make what your father didn't when he played. Whose dream is this anyway? Yours or his?
Travis I don't know you personally but I and many others pay your wage. We want a dedicated player who is loyal to us. You are a terrific mark of the ball. But at the moment you can't convert to goals. Your ratio is a shocker.
I think the best comment I saw on Cloke was along the lines of "what's wrong with earning a regular income like us all?'. Yes, you are making the most of your playing days but what is so bad about having to cull a few hundred thousand. You only get whacked the top end of town tax on it, so in effect it's just not as much as it seems.
Travis, what do you want to do when you finish playing football? As a one club Collingwood player and premiership at that, any door is opened to you when you finish. I can't see a career in the media for you as you arent the most gifted orator but honestly, just get with the Collingwood programme.
My main concern is this. And I might be wrong. But from last night, no one has come out and said we have an "in principle agreement". So it didn't get sorted last night. If it comes off this week, then I'll eat my words, but if Ed goes to the UK, it more than likely won't happen till August if at all.
And someone, correct me if I am wrong but did Travis say he has met with Carlton? WTF? In contract? That is a big no no in the football world. That's the work the player manager is meant to be doing.
I am confused. He is not my favourite player but so many people seem to want to keep him. If I ran a company and a staff member wanted to hold up my business like the Clokes are, I would tell them to get stuffed.
And Rudeboy, you are right. Every single member has the right to their opinion on this. Sorry RR, but he is right. And don't think that the inner sanctum are the only ones who know what's going on. This whole thing has had more leaks than the Titanic.

Most of us are happy for Cloke to receive what is fair and reasonable.
The problem is that most of us now believe Cloke is being unreasonable in demanding market rate. Which of course he is entitled to do.
But when as supporters we see guys like Swanny and Pendles sign long term deals for far less than they could have received on the open market, then Cloke's actions just seem greedy.
And please don't tell me that Cloke is being asked to take 25% less than the going rate. How much did Pendles sign on for and how much do you think he could have got from GWS had he instructed his manager to whore him out?
Do you think GWS would have preferred Pendles or Scully at 1.8 million?

Cloke will stay, he will get a reasonable contract that everyone will be happy with; and as soon as he rips a game apart all those saying he should be gone will suddenly become slightly less churlish about all this.
rr, i agree with your take on all this

Any chance Ronnie gets to sink the boots into Bucks, he takes. Enough said.
BUCKS can plainly see the damage this is doing to our team, and I am with him all the way on this with his comments. Good on him, hes had a gutful, as we all have. This is just not Murdoch press stuff now, it runs in the Age, TV, on radio, on Triple M, Big footy, this is way beyond just the Hun now.

Cloke holds the premiership to ransom but yeah we are the churlish ones, better tell Bucks and the club to pull back on the churlishness too because their frustration is all too obvious.. just like ours
Oh and how long do we wait for him to rip up a game and grab it by the throat like a Carey or Brereton, because I've never seen it

Great post Anne. I've got to the stage where I really don't care if he stays or leaves. He is not worth the money he's asking for, and he's not worth the trouble he's causing.
I know Bucks & the players will tow the party line when asked about him, but I wonder what they really think. Especially the likes of Pendle, Swan & Thomas, who all signed on for considerably less than they could have got elsewhere.
And I think Bucks was being very diplomatic when he said both parties could have handled this better. I really don't know what more the club could have done. The club has to squeeze all of its required players into the salary cap, and most reasonable players accept this. But it appears that Cloke, from his Footy Show interview, isn't concerned about other players having to take less, or being squeezed out, just to accommodate him.
He's not even the best player at the club. How he can ask for more than Pendles & Swan, who are not only better players, but better club men, is beyond a joke.
It will be interesting to see what kind of reaction he gets when he comes down to the goal square at the Ponsford Stand this Saturday night.

That's your take on things; which I think highlights exactly what I'm saying.
I couldn't have come up with a better example if i tried
Now excuse me as I back out of this discussion, as I get the feeling you will want me to enter into one of those futile pissing contests.

IF Cloke and his old man reckon hes worth $5 million plus, then our greatest ever goalkicker, Peter Mckenna, would be worth double that, and in his time he played for virtual peanuts. OH, but he was a LOYAL Magpie. !

The fact that the old man made us take both Jason & Cameron to get the talented one, should automatically shave $100k per year off his bloody asking price!!

Unfortunately, Cloke put his salary negotiations into the public domain by going on the Footy Show and airing his dirty linen.
I thought this was a site where supporters can air their opinions, we don't all have to agree with each other. I will always admire Cloke, but as I said in a previous post - I am getting very tired and frustrated the longer it goes on.
Clokes form has hardly been great lately.
