On the other hand, if people are being beaten up, at least they’re near an Emergency Department. That’s something, I guess.

That people who work in emergency units get paid the same as those in Gen Med or surgical is ridiculous

OMG, thats a planned attack, i have to say i remember walking back to the carpark on christmas eve, well christmas morning at 1.30am, and it was a long scary lonely walk, when we i left Williamstown Hospital at 11pm to follow the ambulance, the Guard insisted on walking me to my car.

thats just disgusting.

I agree Stu about the pay thing, they should get danger money. But they need to make sure that staff, visitors patients can get safely to their cars.

With all the gang attacks in the news lately, i wonder what nationality they are? does it matter? no, but there is an obvious problem in the west right now.

^ It only matters if people take as much notice when it isn't as when it is. Otherwise, it's just confirmation bias.

From the article " Police described the assailants as being in their late teens to early 20s and African in appearance".

The second one was at 5.20pm - pretty brazen!

no surprises there then, 5.20? still daylight, peak hour, heaps of people around, vistitors leaving and arriving. i thought staff had their own car park? still obviously security is needed in the grounds.

confirmation bias or an educated guess? I live here remember, not all of it is shown on the 6 oclock news! I dont often venture to shopping centres in werribee now, recently i had too, and the presence is quite sinister.

and clearly, my educated guess was right.

We do but there is a waiting list and for particularly junior medical staff doing 3 month rotations they won't get one and the staff car park is out the back of the hospital - it can be a scary journey from there to the hospital at any time!

They do provide security patrols and escorts but sometimes - well frequently security are needed in the hospital especially ED so ..........

We got another memo today it's not just hospital staff being attacked but the locals as well.

I don't care if the thugs are green, pink, white or black - that 4 young men can kick someone just minding their own business going home after a work day in the head repeatedly and cause substantial tissue damage including broken teeth - well that concerns me!

I'm not sure what else can be done but working inside a hospital these days is scary enough let alone being attacked when you are going home

No there us something to see here, another damn thug but working alone, and attacking when no one is around. Hopefully the pic is good enough they get him. It’s the audacity of the Sudanese gangs, broad daylight in a car park that is always crowded, the raids they are doing in shops, they have no fear of consequences. And from a friend who taught in a mostly immigrant school, they just see things differently. Maybe if they attack in royal park, or better yet, toorak, something might be done. A heap got hauled in a couple of weeks back, hopefully the judge doesn’t go soft on them. You know, unless your ok with little old ladies, children, and yes grown men getting beaten to a pulp in broad daylight in a public place, if so, carry on, nothing to see here.
