The traffic light system established by the Victorian Government is a simple and effective way to communicate and clarify what needs to be observed in simple easy to understand steps. Very smart (unless you’re an idiot) then no system will help.

Assuming it actually works.
Considering you mention idiots, that would apply to whoever made regional and rural NSW an Orange zone.
A person who is a NSW resident of the border bubble can drive in and out of Vic no problems, no permit required, but a Victorian who enters the same area needs a permit to come back and has to do a virus test and quarantine til the result.

I can’t help but wonder: is Orange in the Orange zone?stui magpie wrote:Considering you mention idiots, that would apply to whoever made regional and rural NSW an Orange zone.

NSW is in low single figures per day, holding on despite warnings of doom for Christmas and New Year.
If they get through the next fortnight after the Cricket test, things will be looking good.
I really hope Andrews and co have got shit under control for the Australian Open. They consider regional NSW dangerous but are bringing in hundreds of tennis players and support staff from Europe where the UK mutant strain is going gangbusters.
If that get's loose, enjoy the next lockdown I'll be out of here.

Simple Dave, I go to Toc in regional NSW. The border is open to get there, I just stay there till things get better down here.
If they put their so called ring of steel in place again, it's too easy to get past it.

The thing with epidemiologists is that they are singularly focused. If you only rely on their advice you'd lock everyone down at flu season. They don't consider the mental health of people nor the economic impacts, their tunnel vision is purely about defeating the virus at any cost.eddiesmith wrote:Of course the Australian Open should go ahead, the Government was trying their best to make it difficult but the money always wins.
I do look forward to how they'll stuff it up, expect them to suddenly ban crowds at 10am on the first day after they find 1 case 300kms away...
every state says they rely on the health advice yet every state has a different approach. seems to be the usual routine, you pick the people you ask a question of in order to get the answer you wanted in the first place.

But apparently the biggest expert on Covid is a paediatrician who has made a career as a radio broadcaster...
Yes it is funny how people get so hung up on the advice they like that anyone who agrees with them is an expert and anyone who doesn't is wrong.
There is nothing wrong with the health advice NSW is getting. WA and QLD were influenced by elections so they went hard and WA is still going hard till March. Victoria chose to put the jobs department in charge of hotel quarantine because they didn't recognise the health risks and it was just a 'babysitting' exercise.
It's the way Australia is set up, the states are free to run their own health departments however they see fit.

You look overseas where they are getting upwards of 10's and 100's of Thousand Cases a Day overseas and I think that is enough to make the Government Scared as they don't want it here like everyone else should be.stui magpie wrote:The thing with epidemiologists is that they are singularly focused. Just look in England at the Moment where they have pretty much no more Room for Sick People in Hospital
