I'm not sold on Weideman either, however we should remember the context. He has Tom McDonald (instrong form), Luke Jackson (Rising Star winner) and Ben Brown to compete with. That's a pretty tough field, especially considering Melb are minor premiers, so nowhere near as many ins and outs as we've had. Weideman sitting as 4th KPF may not have inspired him much performance wise. Stuck in a queue. Come round 1, Weideman would be vying for a KPF spot with Cox, Cameron, Kelly and McMahon. I'd be surprised if Weed wasn't lining up at FF weekly.

Playing in a gun team on a big stage against the team that finished 17th, he had 4 handballs. I'm with you. His stats this year (under 4 kicks, about 4 handballs, 3 marks and an occasional goal) rank him right behind Jason Cloke as a key forward target.

^ ^Cox wont be there.
Begg , Ash Johnson and Ollie Henry would also be competing for Tall forward spots. Weideman if he was as good as his early pick suggested, would be in the same league as King, McKay etc right now and he would have cemented a spot in the Dees forward line. In fact Melbourne would not have chased Brown If they thought he was that good.
Dees will be looking for as much compo as they can get

I do not rate Weideman and would only take him for nothing through the PSD.

Maynard for Weideman would be bonkers insane. I wouldn’t even trade Magden for Weideman (unless he has Magden’s passion). Hmmm, could Weid play full back? Or he’s a one truck forward pony?

What other mature KPF’s with 3-5 years ahead of them, are available at a rock bottom price is the question?

Without the Weid we’re putting the heat on chekkers amd Elliot to play out of position once again, and throwing Henry, Kelly, Johnson, McMahon and Begg to the wolves.

He’s definitely not worth Maynard, but If we can get him cheap and land Daicos without sacrificing next years draft…. surely it’s a win?

He’s spent his entire career log jammed behind legitimate KPF’s.
We don’t have one.
Zero.
If he’s fit, he plays, and should finally get some continuity in his game.
