The Cloke brand at the moment equals poor performance, lack of team commitment and making the most money he can by blackmailing our club to a deal that is all his way from what we hear, from his words!
Are you serious? Wow, talk about taking an extreme view of things. He isn't trying to blackmail the club into more money, just a longer deal

Well Mr Cloke junior removed thrice, you might need a few players around you to get the ball out of the centre and down to you to kick your points. And what makes you think you are worth 30-90% more than they are? Swan is our highest paid player on roughly 700k. Why should our club get rid of men who are prepared to commit for less dollars than you and your Cloke brand?
No he didn't, he said he expected them all to get done and it shouldn't be anyone elses concern how others contract negotiations are going. He wants everyone to stay together and expects they will hence why he isnt asking for anywhere near market rate
annewilo wrote:Go to Carlton, make a million. Make what your father didn't when he played. Whose dream is this anyway? Yours or his?
Travis I don't know you personally but I and many others pay your wage. We want a dedicated player who is loyal to us. You are a terrific mark of the ball. But at the moment you can't convert to goals. Your ratio is a shocker.
68% is a shocker? Really? Wow, you have some pretty big expectations then...
annewilo wrote:And someone, correct me if I am wrong but did Travis say he has met with Carlton? WTF? In contract? That is a big no no in the football world. That's the work the player manager is meant to be doing.
No he didnt say that at all

Wow, some supporters showing some loyalty rather than making up shit, completely misinterpreting what he said and then sticking the knives in, how terrible of those supporters. Absolutely everyone should be abusing him and demanding Bucks drop him now, we don't need someone who wont settle for the first contract offer given to him, although if everyone did we might have a few million spare in the cap...

Make the deal now or put it off until the end of the year, I don't care which.
Just stop the distraction and win a flag, ffs!

^ Thing is though, it is distracting.
Feels like a repeat of the MM saga last year.

The Prototype wrote:THE Travis Cloke saga could be over as early as Friday, when Collingwood is expected to announce it has re-signed its premier forward to a long-term deal.
It is believed a meeting on Monday night, chaired by Collingwood president Eddie McGuire and attended by Cloke and his managers - his father, David, and Ralph Carr - was a significant step towards finalising a new deal.
Another meeting is scheduled for Friday or early next week.
The Herald Sun understands some components of the new deal have to be thrashed out, but both sides believe that is imminent.
McGuire said yesterday: "If we can get to a position where everyone's happy, always a bit of give and take, we'll get this knocked over."
Collingwood coach Nathan Buckley said yesterday: "Things have been far more amicable than people give credence to and it (Monday night's meeting) is just part of the on-going discussions."
It is not clear whether Collingwood has agreed to Cloke's request for a five-year deal or if he has accepted the four-year term preferred by the Magpies.

Whilst I appreciate your right to your opinion, I fully and firmly stand by mine on this matter. Criticism of members for their opinions show exactly why people are hesitant to post in here much these days. Shot down because of your opinion. Personal attacks and being accused of being disloyal. Don't ever question my loyalty.
Furthermore your commentary is contradictory. You hang people for being disloyal to Cloke and then you want Bucks to drop him and save money....And as for your money comment, you are confused. Go work out the math. If you stay longer, you get more money. Hence he is asking for more money. And his yearly salary request is higher than the clubs offer. I think you need a bex and a serious lay down!

Aside from being completely wrong....

Amount to be less than Pendlebury, Swan and Thomas.

Well given he would accept 5 years around 750 or 950 over 4 years, yeah do the maths
Not to mention a lower yearly amount over a longer period is less straining on the salary cap hence doing Collingwood a favour, unless they think the next CBA will drop the cap???
As for the comment about him being dropped, sarcasm, trying to act like those who want him gone

So you quote his accuracy 2 years ago as proof? Really?
His accuracy in 2012 is 68%, his accuracy last year 58%, its on the rise each year so of course if you want to be negative you would drag up his past records when he also wasnt the reliable option he is now

Is Cloke a better player than Pendles, Swan, Daisy, Reid, Beams, Sidey etc........?
HELL NO!
Can we win a flag without Cloke?
HELL NO!
I've always said that if it means losing a Krakouer, Macaffer, Goldsack etc...then so be it.
I hope and am confident that the Pies have done their homework and it doesn't come to that.

His accuracy is not 68%. How many out on the full? How many didn't make the distance because he missed across the face to the opposite pocket?
Let's get real. He is nowhere near 68% accuracy

Doesnt include his perfect around the ground kicking either
Of 190 disposals this year, he has 1 clanger
For comparison our midfielders average about 6 per game!

All I will say on this matter is that I'm bloody glad NONE of you run or have anything to do with the way the club is run.
Christ we'd have gone under 18 times over.

Reading through most of this crap says much more about the petulant, impatient, and self-absorbed attitude of many supporters these days than it does about any of Cloke's supposed failings or those of the club for that matter. It's amazing how quick 'supporters' turn and how quick a herd mentality takes over. It's also amazing how quick people are to believe every piece of speculation in the media when it feeds into their paranoia despite constantly pointing out in all other areas how crap the media is and how wrong they are all the time. I mean seriously, now we are potting Cloke for talking to Carlton? That's fine, except he hasn't. Thank Christ the club's management and Cloke's team-mates have a genuine sense of perspective, reality and what side by side means.
Yes, in an ideal world this would have been settled earlier. Cloke was also silly to go on the footy show, but let's not pretend the club have been cleanskins in this process either. Bucks amongst others has been more than ready to put subtle pressure on Travis to sign. Jeez, who would have thunk it
Both sides using pressure in a negotiation process
What next? Get over it. The level of vitriol directed towards Travis is pathetic. Most of it is coming from the same muppets that bagged Daisy for holding out last year - he actually signed in September folks. The same henny-penny's knocked Pendles for signing a short term deal last time around and questioned his motives. The same muppets will no doubt turn on the next player that has the audacity not to grab his ankles in response to the first offer on the table. Grow up and show some faith in both Travis and the club to get this done. He will sign - nobody I know is seriously questioning this. He will also sign for well below market value. Here's a novel idea - how about showing a bit of the loyalty you are calling for from the players whose livelihoods are at stake.

I cant speak for anyone else on here nomadjack but the reason I'm more unimpressed with Cloke than I am with Pendlebury or Thomas relates to -
1. the amateur way in which Cloke's management has conducted itself by talking in the media repeatedly;
2. Travis' apearance on the footy show; and
3 the fact Travis always allows outside influences to impact upon his on field form.
As far as I can recall, Thomas and Pendlebury were in career best form and continued to perform at elite level when negotiating with the Club. They also said very little in the media, or at the very least didnt make themselves open to looking foolish like travis on national tv.
I'll be happy when Travis signs but I'll always have a little more respect for the likes of Thomas and Pendlebury in the way they kept contractual matters confidential rather than feeding the media frenzy like the Cloke's hace done.
