if the club signs him it will prove it has the integrity of a gnat. a key reason cited for not recruiting cousins was cos it was adhering to so-called youth policy. will that now be thrown out?
Spot on. Since 2005 we have invested every resource we have in recruitment and youth development. It is absolutely imperative that we give more game time to the likes of Dawes, Reid and Brown next year to have a real shot at a flag in a couple years time.
How old is Leigh Brown? 26? Brendon 27? Youth Policy is under 28?

Most definately, but this is Collingwood, talent on the field means nothing, its all about being good role models

You're right - we haven't had a player misbehaviour scandal at the club all year. Our reputation is on the line - we need him bad.
Seriously, this is all about patience. Can anyone tell me the last time a club won a premiership because they had traded away their young talent for a proven "star" ? Perhaps Caaarltn with Greg Williams in 1997 or whatever, but I can't think of any of the premiers in recent years who have done that. It all smacks of the days when we were told "get Buckley, he'll deliver it to Sav and Sav'll mark it and kick goals and we'll have a premiership". Sure, getting Buckley - a 22 y.o. genius - was a good thing to do, but (a) these things never work out as they promise, and (b) trading youth for a 29 y.o. with a personality problem is almost the inverse of getting a Nathan Buckley.

I think Carlton have finally decided Fev = No Premiership, franki. And I think they're right. Why would they shop him otherwise?
It's not just about the off-field stuff, although obviously the Brownlow performance was the last straw.
He's a very talented frontrunner, and a highly disruptive influence.
Perhaps, but that's probably them being realistic and thinking their Premiership window is at least another 3 to 4 years away. Seeing that he more than likey won't be around, why risk putting up with his antics in the meantime? If he's at a club that's going to have a fair dinkum crack over the next year, two or three, he just may pull his finger out

Do what you can, CFC but not to the detriment of the club. (What ever that means ?)

why cant you people just look at the talent he is, we have plenty of tools at the club and if he can kick 60+ which he will we will win a flag, I dont care put up with his crap as long as we win the holy grail, 2-4 years could bring us plenty of good times, I dont want to wait 5-8 years for cloke and anthony and dawes to reach the peak of their careers.

It is going to be a f...ing wasteland for the next 3 years in draft land with the oompalumpas and gws. So lets give away a 21 year old who we have developed and is really showing something for a role the dice shot at next year when I rather like Reid at CHB, Dawes, JA and Cloke forward line as a shot at the flag anyway. Its like the crazy argument that Marty Clarke was a waste - it was a bloody smart idea - lets get around the socialism that is the salary cap (coupled with rules that keep changing) by finding the best talent outside of those rules. We did that. We won first prize - if your not sure look at the 07 preliminary final - what we couldn't solve for was that players are human and sometimes want something other than football. (We are doing the same thing with the nsw players - it is a punt but a damn site better one than bloody pubs).
The list we are building is getting better each year since the Buckley/Clement/Burns departures. We have forwards who can win us a flag what we need to win one is a strong midfield (faark the cats have won 2 flags with 2 decent forwards) and I quite like next year having Pendlebury, Steele, Beams with one of the untried kiddies (Rounds, Blight) possibly doing what Beams did this year, recruit Ball with draft pick 2 and steak knives and move on. If we can get captain sex toy for a 3rd round then okay but I would rather trust Sir Judkins and the list we've got than gamble the next 4 years for a 28 year old moron. We thought the ute story was fun - that will seem like a charity picnic next year if Bwendon plays for us.
Agree totally.
The Scum will want the world, but he is 29 in January and his best IS behind him. I would be happy to part with Pick 14 + a fringe player like Cook, Cox or Stanley.
At best they can have dawes and pick 30.
Brown, Reid, Cloke should be untouchable when it is for an ageing 29 year old who is a nut case..

I voted yes but at the right price.
Does anyone know if he would be on the Carlton Veterans list? If he is then he is onyl costing them 50% within their salary cap. That means that if he is traded, they would not be freeing up as much of their cap as we might think?

How will Fev kicking 60+ win us a flag?
The Cats seem to do fine without such a forward.
One player will not bridge the gap between us and Geelong, or even StKilda. It's fantasy to think otherwise. And don't forget we'll be losing out from another part of our team. I just cannot see a scenario where signing Fevola means instant premiership. It's just the same kind of thinking we see every trade period. This particular player is the one, if we get him we'll win a premiership!

Yeah but Geelong have the best damn midfield in the league, ours will never match up to theirs and do you think the Saints would be contenders without Riewoldt? Not a chance
