No one has linked Bruce to Collingwood. This thread was merely asking whether we should go after him. I haven't even seen in the media that he is linked to Collingwood.

The other week? IT was only announce a couple of days ago that Melbourne are having trouble re-signing him. The Hun just make crap up as they go along, so I take that paper with a grain of salt.

If Bruce does go, he would be a ripper of a pickup. I would have no hesitation in giving them Presti & Pick 23 for him. As someone mentioned earlier, Nicholson is woeful and Presti would slot straight in at full back behind Rivers at CHB. Presti & Pick 7's a bit much.
I've got high hopes for Walker as a key backman. I think J Cloke, Wakelin, Walker and Clement will be our key backs next year, and I'd pick them all ahead of Presti. He's overrated in my opinion.

"Collingwood and Hawthorn are thought to be keen on Bruce's services next season, along with some non-Victorian clubs."
Would be a great get. But just goes to show the inequities of the AFL Melbourne have their best year for a long time and are struggling with the cap already... nothing to do with their debt, just simply big names want big dollars on top off a successful year and it has to fit the AFL player payment model - an artificial constraint designed to be equitable. Bahh !!

It's why we can't afford to kowtow to the money-grubbers. I want only players who will bleed for the club, not some jumped-up upstart of a egoist who only wants to grab the biggest paypacket he can find. There's a limit to how many top players you can fit into your side. Cameron Bruce, or any other player looking for $350k, is the equivalent of 7 draftees, any one of which could turn out to be the next Michael Voss, Matthew Pavlich or Buckley. If Bruce wants to go to another club only for the money, then I don't want him.

Cameron Bruce is not coming to Collingwood. As soon as they name our club you know it's about getting a better contract. Not one player linked to Collingwood has come to us in the past 4 years so forget it.
It's a player manager con job and is using the media to do it.

We have to nab a big name player. We have the money - we just need to use it. Get Him!

Dees have lots of players to try to sign to keep and won't have enough money for them all.
Corcoran set up the Woey deal with MM and will more than likely offer the Pies first go at the players - Presti to the Dees for defensive troubles and maybe MCG or OB as they will not be able to keep TJ and Bruce.

On the subject of Demons, why not try for the out of contract Troy Broadbridge, who was in great form in the last month.

Cameron Bruce's managment are the ones going to the media. They feel due to his season his salary should go up a minimum 35%. It's a figure put to Melbourne to negotiate down. At the moment they have offered a 10% increase. There is your sticking point. At this stage if he goes into the draft he will be taken by Richmond somewhere he does not wish to go. Cameron is a control freak and likes to be in control of teh situation, he goes into the draft he has no control. If Melbourne come back and offer him 20% increase he will stay. Don't believe the media in a lead up to a drafting period. As soon as the media comes out that Collingwood is interested you can gaurantee it's all about money and we will never see the player.
