As I said I will pay 3 times for my hopeless fingers on the Blackberry from freezing cold NY.

I think we should either stay with our player of 2008..Jack Anthony ( am I right???) or pick one of the Players of the future!

really don't think we would be able to get the money together that quickly!

Player of the future looks good - particularly with some of the names there. I'll go with whatever the majority want - I kind of like the idea of a board called "Action Jaxson" as the successor to "Cracker Jack" but that is just my sense of late afternoon whimsey taking over.

10 days is seriously short notice though - are they wanting to make it harder for this kind of grouping to be involved?

I can put forward $100 to get the ball rolling.

It's not just Nick's, it's all sponsors, private as well as group

*****update******** (previous 'whinge' deleted)

Have just had notification that payments will not come out til early March but applications are required by 29th.

So, that's better, it fits in with previous years payment dates.

Well done Jac,

OK, so we've got 6 weeks to raise the cash, which should be enough. What's the best way to do this to see if we've got enough interest? Plege in this thread or PM someone (for those who don't want their pledge amount public)?

That way we can see if we've got enough money before people start paying it into accounts.

Mods, can someone sticky this thread please?

Stui, previously it's been a private pledge to Marg, unless people chose to publicly pledge. Marg keeps the list and the tab and she provides the payment details.

I think you need to wait for her to get back online :)

2009 NBB PLAYER SPONSORSHIP UPDATE

Hi guys, sorry, have been having internet access problems and I've only just got back online!

I have also received all the 2009 sponsorship info from the Club.

I think the first two steps are as follows:

1) If everyone could send me a PM with a pledge of what they can contribute and when?

2) I will start a poll on whether we should sponsor a 'Player of the Future' or choose from the 'Team Player Category'. I think the other categories are out of our reach! And please only respond to the Poll if you are willing to contribute to the Sponsorship.

Following that, I will then forward payment details to those who have made pledges and also run a second poll to choose a player from the preferred category.

I have contacted the Club to enquire about the first payment due date of 29th Jan - as we may be pushed to get half of the cost in by that date!!!

Marg
Can we please get a definitive answer on when money is due at the club.

Proud Pies started by saying that payment was due on application.....Jan 29th

Then she said ...No, payment isn't due til March but application still closes on Jan 29th

Now you seem to be indicating that half payment is due on Jan 29th

Which is it??

Pica, the exact quote in the info pack from the Club reads:
Applications to renew player sponsorship must be received by no later than Thursday 29th Janaury 2009. Payment can be made in full or two instalments (full payment is the preferred option). 1st instalment must be paid on application and the 2nd instalment will be due on or before Wednesday 5th August 2009.
I have spoken to the Club today and they have said as long as we submit our application form (with our chosen player) by the 29th Jan, that initial payment can be made prior to the start of March.

Remember that contributing to the Player Sponsorship is voluntary for NBB Members. If anyone has any issues with the sponsorship or the way we run it, they do not have to participate. Although we certainly hope to get as many members on board as we can this year - not only so you can say you are part of a player sponsorship but also for the chance to win some great prizes - and of course to support our great Club. :D

what a load of crap, there's no need for your continual digs at me pica. I suggest you actually get a life!

The information that I provided was the information that was on the flyer sent by the Club. I contacted the club as soon as they emailed me the flyer, to ask about the payment being due in 10 days and the EXACT response in an email from the Club is what I posted on here. I also provided those details to MargOz via PM.

Marg, I believe the important word from your quote is renew.

Isn't the cutoff date there to give a sponsor first go at a player they sponsored in 08 and wish to continue sponsoring?

If Nick's decides to sponsor a player other than the one sponsored last season (as appears likely), wouldn't the Jan 29 date become irrelevant?
