Hey he's my favourite player and I've said many times that I think he's our best player. Saying it was his worst game of the year is more a comment on how good his other games have been. He was very quiet in the first half, you have to admit.Raw Hammer wrote:Agreed ... some are getting so harsh on Pendles. Sheesh. He got better as the game wore on. Never wasted a possession. Brilliant all round game. Unluck to miss my top 3.surfer1 wrote:Mmmm I saw some pretty damn impressive things from Pendles todayDuff Soviet Union wrote:Good performance. Our big forwards were excellent, our key defenders were excellent (especially Taz), our midfield won easily despite missing two prime movers and arguably Pendles' worst game of the year. Only concern was our forward setup looked poor in the third. And even then, Melbourne couldn't get it out of our forward line. Good performances by fringe players like Bucks, Fasolo, McCarthy and Wood. Dids still looked a bit out of touch and I would have liked Blair to do more, but otherwise no complaints.

Must be difficult making a name for yourself playing in the midfield shadows of Pendles, Swan, Thomas and Ball. Wellers got his chance to shine today and boy did he jump at the opportunity. I've suspected since the GF and today just confirmed it, Sharrod Wellingham is one of or if not the best rover of inside 50 ruck contests going around. His ability to dodge traffic and evade tackles at pace is amazing! I'd love to know what percentage of his goals have been scored from gathering a loose ball at a stoppage inside 50, he'd probably average 2 goals a game if only he were more accurate.
Very excited with the win, we're now dismantling opposition with ruthless authority and going for the complete kill. It only gets better!

Tonight I wish I had foxtel purely to see what Mike Sheahan made of his demons and more importantly our pies.
He was sounding pretty cocky pregame on 3aw about there chances.
Mike and other haters in the media need to realise that when giving there predictions there is a big difference between wanting us to lose and expecting it might happen.

Kind of funny how little everyone thought of Sherrod last year. We offered him up to the Saints who didn't want him. We offered him to the Kangas for the right to swap second round picks and Brad Scott, ex Collingwood assistant, didn't want him. Now he's an established and important part of a juggernaut!frankiboy wrote:haha, will go down as one of the cock ups of the century!Doc63 wrote:Nope, Wellingham & Pick 30 wont do, will it Rossy Baby?frankiboy wrote:Must be difficult making a name for yourself playing in the midfield shadows of Pendles, Swan, Thomas and Ball. I'd had a gut full listening to all the tripe that was spouted last week since Daisy was suspended. The crap about Melb's best chance to beat us with the 3 players out, blah..blah..
That was based on nothing but wishful thinking. No logic at all.
Do they not think that our backline, forward line and hardened bodies had Melb covered?????

Well what can I say... This side is so bloody good that I wouldn't mind saying that they won't lose another game for the whole season. Being in M32 today amongst fellow Magpie supporters was fantastic with everyone so elated.
I will admittedly say that I thought the Pies would struggle a bit and might only win by 4 or 5 goals but seeing them emulsify Melbourne was unbelieveable. How does a side missing 7 premiership players still win so bloody comfortably.
Cloke is a superstar and the best key forward in the league currently and with Dawes they are the best forward duo in the league.
The midfield runs so deep that with injuries we can cover it anyday. Pendles was as people said, Pendles. Ball was in and under as usual and Wellingham is a class act and clearly the guy has so much talent to burn. Dids looked ok but I think he still needs to find form and Sidey played his solid game without being spectactular.
The defence was magnificant with only conceding 6 goals for the whole match. The defence is officially back to 2010 form after some raised the question as to wheather our defence has improved or maintained the same form. Well I can officially say that the defence is back to its best.
It was also great to see the new kid Fasolo play well on debut. He looked good and certainly looked confident with his ability and the 12 contested possessions he got is a remarkable stat for a debutant.
Overall, awesome performance by the Pies and let's start the 2nd half of the season with an absolute bang and go out their and win this premiership again.
GO PIES!!!

yeah, I guess that was a little kick up the backside he probably needed. Personally I was a little miffed at the time he was put up, whatever the reason. Just very glad he's still with us.Duff Soviet Union wrote:Kind of funny how little everyone thought of Sherrod last year. We offered him up to the Saints who didn't want him. Decisive win today. Am just loving watching my team play - Leon's first quarter, Welly too good, Leroy busting packs (and how was that great mark in the last qtr!), Trav's 6 goals, Reids confidence and reliability down back, Pendles silkiness through traffic......
Sat in the MCC today - you should've seen them leaving in droves at 3/4 time - too funny! Was rather nice raining on their parade today
Scary to think how good we can be when we get our 'full' team back
P.S. BTW, what did Maher say?

dunno what tv shows you guys are watching and what papers you are reading but I see and hear nothing but respect and begrudging admiration for the Pies. They have to give each side a chance each week or what else would they have to write about.swoop42 wrote:Tonight I wish I had foxtel purely to see what Mike Sheahan made of his demons and more importantly our pies.

I go into every game thinking there is some danger, just like i did today but I was pleased to say that my doubts were unfounded.
