In terms of our finals hopes I agree. Wood must be our backup for Jolly. That means he must keep playing.melliot wrote:Do I suggest that Brown goes out for Jolly and not Wood?

- Cloke has to be the Best CHF in the Comp at the Moment
- Wood was Usless and I reckon Shae would been no Worse tonight
- Worse game I seen of Daisy ever
- Hopefully our Shocking Goal Kicking was a 1 Night Thing
- Bye is a Real Factor as we where very Sluggish tonight
- Ball is our Best Mid at the Moment
- Swan looks to moving better
- Pendles was Quiet but still used the Ball Well
[*]Did anyone else wanted to Shoot Tim Lane Tonight?
I think Daisy played crap cos he knew all the GWS crew were sitting in the stands watching!

Couldn't agree more. We dominated the second quarter and the start of the third, but wasted our opportunities to put them away. From the half way mark of the third, the Swans seemed like they couldn't miss. We should've been eight goals up at half time - game over.Deja Vu wrote:I actually don't think we played that bad, apart from the goal kicking obviously. Our zone was good, our pressure was good, our tackling was up.
We were just abysmal in front of goal. Yes, bad kicking is bad footy but I'm not worried in the slightest moving forward. I think thats the first time we've kicked more behinds than goals this year?
A win is a win regardless.
Just how good is Trav? Anyone who says he's not the best big forward at the moment is an idiot.
Thought Ball, Leon, Swanny, Taz & Maxy were great tonight.
I've been a defender of Wood so far, but tonight he was really poor. Lucky Big Mummy was out. Hope Jolly is back next week.
All in all, probably not as bad as the scoreboard suggests, but we'll have to be better next week.
I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within.

Ugly, but we got over the line. We certainly can't carry Dids into big games anymore, while the players on the fringes ought to come under the spotlight now. Half forward was our strength when Dids was in full flight, but the position is fast becoming a weak link, with poor leading and the lack of run into space to receive through half forward by the likes of Krak, Blairy, Sidey and Wellers costing us. It will be way too easy for good sides to close down Trav and Dawesy if we're not dangerous through half forward.
Just a sniff of a few players not knowing and or not sticking to their proper roles, too.
Tactically well played by Sydney, though.

Don't take anythng for granted. Just ask Hawks Fans.AnthonyC wrote:I know what you're tring to say, but the concrete had set and cured a long time before this week on the 8. Don't you think?melliot wrote:11 wins and 1 loss. Probably cements our top 8 position.
Might be more apt to worry about 16-17 wins and cement a top 4.
Edit: Yeah what Jack said.

Spot on. No crumbers and no third marking targets leading up. Normally we would snag a few ground balls close to goal for 4 or 5 easy ones close in but no-one was there.pietillidie wrote:Ugly, but we got over the line. I think you guys are right. This is where we miss Beams' strength. The Krak has to lift, and at the moment we're getting very little from Blair and Sidebottom. Sidebottom has been one of our most disappointing players this year imo.perthmagpie wrote:Spot on. No crumbers and no third marking targets leading up. In the past we'd have been tempted to move Leon there, but I love what he's doing off half-back (and he's good for a goal or two if needed).
I tell you what though, I'll be happier when BJ comes back. That might give us more flexibility to move Leon forward if needed.

Last year the old man threw the kids to the wolves, and we got a Premiership.jack_spain wrote:An injury would save him from the humiliation of being dropped, because there's no way he could be picked on form.Culprit wrote:Any news on Didak?
I'm worried that we're falling into old selection habits.
Hawthorn has blooded 10 news kids this year and most will be stars. We gave Fasolo a game and that's all. I'm worried that if bad form to the likes of Didak, Krakouer and Blair continues and we get a few more injuries, the cupboard will be bare of experience.
Really, on form, tell me why on earth Leigh Brown or Nick Maxwell should be playing right now?
This year the old man is desperate to leave a legacy, that is back to back, and he seems to be holding on to the favorites like he did in the mid naughties.
That or he doesn't want them blooded for Bux to reap the benefits.
(That one's for Caro.....I know your out there!!)

I'm sure I saw strapping or a bandage to his little finger, I think on his right hand.jack_spain wrote:Thank God it's not next week. Hawthorn would fry us on that performance, even with their second string side.
Shocking night. The curse of the BYE is a factor and we've lost all momentum at the wrong time of the year. Have to get it back quickly, because that performance tonight was not worthy of a top four side.
The Scum will be gloating tonight. And they have a point.
Apologies to Cloke (who gets better and better) and Leon Davis who is incredible. When everyone else seemed to panic and lose their heads, these guys kept theirs. I'd add Luke Ball to that group, but we all know he doesn't have a head.
A very un-Collingwood like performance tonight. Awful really. Less said the better.
[Oh and to that knob who started the rumour about Harry O. You cretin. His finger wasn't even strapped. Obviously you fell for a hoax buddy. Although I have to say Harry played like he had a broken hand. :P ]

Agreed Jack. Sidey must do more as must Krak.
Blood Rounds and Fasolo and get Keefe in PLEASE!!!
McCaffer and Johnno are honest warriors who are missed BIG time
We underrate our players at our peril..including the kids..

I'm sorry, but I'm lost. We are 12 games into the season aren't we?melliot wrote:Don't take anythng for granted. Just ask Hawks Fans.
Are you talking about hawthorn 2009, I don't see how we could have possibly missed the 8 even 4 weeks ago. Unless the ash cloud meant we were stuck interstate.... forever.
Go Pies!
