Tannin wrote:Assuming we mean the mainland, Swoop, yes, they are all extinct. The most recent one was at Mt Gambier and it finished up 4500 years ago. But the Newer Volcanic Province, which covers the area from about Kilmore and Broadmeadows through Ballarat and Geelong to Hamilton and Mt Gambier, has been subject to eruptions now and again for millions of years now and the experts say that we have no reason to believe the eruptions are over. They just pop up at more-or-less random anywhere in the zone, and at any time. In fact, we are overdue for another one now.

Actually, Tannin, my understanding is that a volcano is not considered extinct until it has gone 20,000 years without an eruption. So Mt Gambier, Tower Hill and some of the others in South West Victoria are considered dormant rather than extinct. The Gunditjmara (the indigenous tribe around Warrnabool and Portland) are supposed to have dreamtime stories that describe the eruption of Tower Hill.

This is a link to an old article but it had a little of what made you laugh and a lot of WTF?
"The nation knows that the Cornish pasty, Yorkshire pudding, haggis and fish and chips are great British dishes, but all too often the $ is left off that list," said Janet Doody.

Her husband Fred added: "It's unfair because faggots were a British delicacy long before any of the others.

"The great British $ is full of flavour and a great belly warmer at this time of year."

The current Ford Fiesta ad with the girl rambling on about driving in her wedges and how her dad said she cannot drive in those.... When she mentions how she got her pink runners, the camera shows her feet, and the runners are black with orange shoe laces.

And I thought Males were supposed to be color blind.
