Great hard fought win against the odds. I bet not many people out there expected us to get anywhere near port today, but we did and we beat them. It's been a long time between drinks so it's great to soak this one up and shove it up the wannabe magpies.
While I'll enjoy this one, I can't help but think that it could have so easily gone the other way. We stayed composed and in control when it mattered. I wish we wouldn't butcher the ball so much and turn in over. We have great issues moving the ball out of the backline too. We continue to give the opposition too much space and freedom to launch attacks going forward but our players were up to the challenge and stood up when it mattered. Well done.
Great to win
Lots of positives; especially the pressure placed on the ball carrier and the hard running in order to man up to deny them options. Great to see youngsters doing well; Adams, Langdon, Frost, Witts & Broomhead especially.
Reid looks just about ready to really fire. White kept battling and made some crucial contributions.
Downer; the obvious poor disposal especially from half back/wing going forward.
Heaps more upside after this one. Go Pies.

It's fantastic to see all our young kids starting to find their feet and hit form. Broomhead will be a star, Adams was terrific again, Langdon returned to form, and Frost and Keeffe were great in defence. I was also pleased with Armstrong, who is quick, covers a lot of ground and is a beautiful kick.
Only two negatives stood out to me.
Firstly, Witts inability to take a mark anywhere on the ground is a huge liability. Maybe it's time to give Grundy a go again as our number one ruckman? Having said that, Witts was good in the ruck.
Secondly, I thought Fasolo was rather loose in defence and cost us a couple of goals. However, given it was his first week back, I hope he holds his spot.

Cloke and Beams were outstanding,Sidebottom very good,Broomhead needs to be signed up soon because the kid can play, and even the maligned Armstrong did well,i thought.
As much as I enjoyed the win, couldn't help but feel uneasy about Broomhead and Beams still remaining uncontracted.
Nothing pretty but I rate that our best win for the season. Absolutely a must win game and although Port are not at their best I thought we contained their run really well. Our tackling and attack on the ball and ball carrier was the best all year. Win or lose if we give efforts like that I can suck up a loss when it happens.
Thought Sidey was superb, Keefe solid, White competed well, Broomhead looks a quality player and Adams played his best game of his career. There were a few horrible turnovers but all in all a much improved effort from a disposal perspective compared to some of the poor games we've had.
Keeps our finals hopes alive, we must win all games for the rest of the year until the last round because that will be a 100% loss.
Good work lads!
RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.
Great win and more than happy to be proved wrong about Armstrong. Still, we look too light against genuine opposition and need to bulk up against the likes of Geelong and Hawthorn. Don't want to diminish the win in any way, but Port look shot to me. West Coast will be waiting for us next week, so expect a very difficult game. Essential to bring back Ball and Toovey to have any chance. Broomhead is going to be an absolute star so should stay in the 22 for keeps now.

Toovey yes, Ball no. We simply cannot afford to have a slow midfielder in our team. The only time i'd play Ball again is if its raining heavily and pace is not a factor, but strength and smarts are.
