This may seem a stupid question to many but what power does the AFL have to push or facilitate any trade deal between clubs if there is an impass ?

^ i wouldn't have thought any official power but no doubt a quiet word in someone's ears might do the trick.

There is no process in place that allows the AFL to be an intermediary in trade negotiations (unless of course you are a Northern State club  ).

i agree with this so long as one of them is a top 5 pick.

Pick 5 and either Rich or Redden I'd be happy with.

Would have Redden just ahead as he is taller and plays bigger - we have Adams that can play the rich role.

Still wouldn't knock either back

If we could have a midfield roatation that included:

1. Pendlebury
2. Swan
3. Adams
4. Greenwood
5. Sidebottom
6. J Thomas
7. Broomhead
8. Freeman
9. J Redden
10. J Laverde (pick 5)

It would give us a nice combination of inside and outside players

the idea of a trade is a win win. much as I would like to scroue Brisbane pointless, it is better to compromise, otherwise you end up like the smart alecs of the league, with simmering resentment from the other party.

we have been scrude in the past over the Brett Stevens non trade, and the poaching of Philip Walsh. it is better to get what you can rather than hold out for too much.

pick 23 is on the table now. in the words of two of the three Dr Whos:

"Take it, Omega!"

it was Nick Stevens from 2004 (technically 03, but 04 was a definite year of Merde, like this one)

Fair go, do you realise how many Stevenses there were at the time, at North at least?
