Essendon copping it

On a broader note, it is worth observing that Essendon have not won any finals game since 4 September 2004, when they beat Melbourne by 5 points. They lost to Geelong the following weekend. Sheedy coached them that year.
Since then, Essendon have played and lost a single final in each of 2009, 2011, 2014 and 2017.
It is fair to say that the closest they have come to winning a final in the last 15 years was when they were kicked out for drugs - Carlton took their place in the finals and became the only team in the history of football to win an AFL final from 9th.
Even more entertaining is that, Sheedy aside, the last person to coach Essendon to a premiership was Coleman (1965). Since then, they have had 14 coaches. Of those, only Sheedy and Jack Clarke have even got them to a Grand Final (Clarke did it in 1968 - they finished second, lost the second-semi, won the prelim and lost the GF, so even he has only 1 finals win out of 3 games).
Along the way, Birt, Tuddy, Stephen, Davis, Knights, Hird, Thompson and Worsfold have all (in Worsfold's case, "so far") failed to win a final in charge of them.

I was dating a fellow nickster back then. Unbelievable. My best mate (An Essendon supporter) brings this up a lot.Pies4shaw wrote:On a broader note, it is worth observing that Essendon have not won any finals game since 4 September 2004, when they beat Melbourne by 5 points. Dodoro in the process of forcing two players to stay at the club.
Fantasia wants to go to S.A., notably Port. They feel they cant get a fair deal so tell Orazio he's staying.
Joe want to go to Sydney after ill feeling towards Essendon training and fitness staff (and maybe something else). And he's about to lead the Swans on and walk away on the final day. (To be fair, Sydney are difficult to deal with as we know and they are doing something similar to Carlton re; Papley).
Both players 100% want out. My source is an Essendon player. Not Parish, incase K was asking.
