Personally Grundy has been a great player with the Pies and think his 2021 was much better than the naysayers made out. I hope he stays and recapture the form that befits his abilities. there has been some talk about the Pes contemplating a trade of:
* Grundy to GWS for Bobby Hill & Tim Taranto
Cash wise it would be an offset with Grundy being on $950,000 and those two likely to offset that based on their market value.
Again, I hope we keep Grundy.

Fly signalled that we have no intention of considering a trade for Grundy. The thought of Grundy combining with Cox and Cameron is quite amazing. As others have said, Grundy can play in a different capacity to what he did before. The combination of these three talls, given the rise of Cameron and the improvement of Cox, with Grundy's tank, is a combination like no other in the AFL. This could create enormous possiblities in the immediate term, as well as next year.
Free Julian Assange!!

Fly actually side-stepped the issue referring to Wright as the one deciding on contracts and trades. All he said was that he was focussing on the here and now and expected Grundy to play an important role. He also said that Grundy had another 5 yrs of his contract remaining, which means.....nothing actually.

There has been a lot of 'smoke' for dusty to the swans, yet Tom Harley (on Sen I think) effectively shut it down say Dusty wont be at the swans next year.
The Grundy trade story is the next click bait story.
Fly said in his presser that Grundy is a required player which I will take at face value. But will not be surprised if something changes if the right deal comes along, and will trust the club ti make the right call.

We've struggled in the past with teams having twin tower marking gorillas. E.g. West Coast, Geelong - now Geelong is looking a very difficult proposition and I think the likely contender for the flag.Magpietothemax wrote:Fly signalled that we have no intention of considering a trade for Grundy. Maybe Grundy could be part of a plan (using our 3 tall rucks) to help stop those marking threats. At the same time, providing extra marking power around half forward. This assumes we still have no regular marking KPF. Who knows this week Ash Johnson might grab his opportunity. We are the wild card IMHO. We are coming up to very interesting times and could go all the way!
Ash Johnson...you beauty

For those getting rid of Grundy can you explain the ruckmen available next year?
Cox will retire and Grundy gone so Cameron and Begg
If one of them gets injured should we play Tyler Brown as Ruck?
Most clubs have three ruckmen do you want Cox to get another contract?
Should we bump all the sack/delist/trade Cox threads?

It never ceases to amaze me that this shit hits the paper and the number of people that buy into it just because its Collingwood. Wake up people you are being manipulated.
The classic was when all the talk was about Cloke leaving and ofcourse he never did. But what journalists didnt talk about and was the bigger story Goddard leaving the saints and going to Essendon - where were they all then. It was all so obvious! What a crock.
I don't believe Grundy is going anywhere. FWIW I also think Jordan will stay as well.
One other thing I am sure the coaches are rubbing their hands together thinking - how can we take advantage of Grundy, Cox and Cameron in the same side. I bet they are thinking about how we can exploit that to advantage when everyone says it aint possible. Thats their job and I think it is possible just not how we think it might work - options for a bit of creativity..
HOWEVER, for the sake of argument I would consider trading Grundy if it meant we could get a guaranteed key forward and grunt mid-fielder. That aint gonna happen.

We have a very good record of retaining players that we want to keep, and trading players we don't. If we want him, he stays.Mr Miyagi wrote:Good.
