1. It's not just Melbourne. Every club will be caught up in this.
2. If a player believes they might have an illicit drug in their system, they engage with the club Doctor, and have a test. If it's positive, they avoid playing to avoid a possible 2 - 4-year sanction if tested ASADA. Not sure of the issue here. If a truck driver thought he/she was drug affected and had a test, and as a result decided not to get behind the wheel, then that's only a good thing.
3. What happens between a Doctor and patient is no one else's business.

I just can’t agree, Whatsinaname. The AFL and MFC have brought the game and system into disrepute, but it’s now clear who owns the football media. No one is sticking their neck out and Dr Arain has been thrown under a bus by the AFL.
It’s amazing the supportive articles for Melbourne today, you’d think they’re the victims. Imagine if it was a Collingwood club doctor…

I challenge the disrepute part of it. Disrepute from whose perspective? Not the AFL as this is the system they brought in. Is it the public - well who cares about them. If we worried about the public, then Collingwood and the AFL would be guilty of bringing the game into disrepute after the Maynard incident as the public was more outraged over that than this latest drugs issue.

^ why does it matter the real reason why a player misses a game. Players are injured, players are managed, players are dropped, players miss for family reasons. So does it really matter if a player misses if they have drugs in their system. Does the public need to know that.

Do we pry into the lives of players if they miss for personal reasons?

Whatsinaname, they were cheating the system so players wouldn’t test positive on game day. Cheating. Blatantly. The world antidoping authority is completely correct in blasting the AFL and Melbourne.

It’s amazing how other clubs are treated compared if it were Collingwood. Bloody hell the upper elite MFC old boys must have some mind blowing dirt on key AFL people.

I half expected them to fall off a cliff. But it seems they have gotten away with any kind of scrutiny from the media. And they are travelling alright.

What's important to remember though, is those running the AFL will not want them winning the flag.

Nah, Dick Pound is a Dick Head.

WADA is only interested in performance enhancing drugs, not illicit drugs. Telling a player who's taken coke during the week that they can't play is not cheating. They don't play, there's no issue. It's not like steroids which have a cumulative effect and build enhanced performance, coke is only performance enhancing on the day (and that could be debated as their decision making would be impaired)

Funny how the Melbourne drugs scandal has disappeared from media. Tumbleweeds. All praise for Melbourne as flag contenders.

Herald sun headline today calling him Clarry like he’s their best mate. They never used Jordy or Ginni. The feel good stories for Melbourne makes me bloody mad especially as I know the depth of the drug culture there.

And here we go, Caroline damn Wilson doing PR for Goodwin and Melbourne. FFS this makes me angry, she’d know what I know about Melboune’s culture. After all the years she flung shit at us for much less, she does the AFL and MFC’s spin doctoring. AFL can get fuvked.

If Jordan De Goey got a pimple on his face, it'd be scrutinised. And imagine if he popped it!

Other clubs can have a party drug culture with unprofessional players and coaches, but thats A-ok!

Wholly heck.

The Dees supporters out there who really thought they would be contending again this year, and also next year... well they are and will be deeply disappointed. The dark days are returning.

We now have continued Clayton Oliver drama. We have the Brayshaw-exit drama. We have unhappy-Petracca drama. We have Neal-Bullen wanting a move to the Crows. We have a Viney-to-North saga coming. We still have Joel Smith who has been forgotten about. We have the party-drug culture. We have the unprofessional coach. And of course, we have Steven May who still thinks his side is the best.

This is a side that has gone out in straight sets 2 years in a row. And escaped negative media attention all the way. Things are about to change.

Van Rooyen, Pickett and Rivers, you're all welcome to join the Pies. May, Langdon, Lever, and a few others can all eat it.
