Looks like WHE will be the sub, given those on the Interchange.
We will need Crisp in the middle, because with Pendles and Mitchell contesting the centre bounces, we will be horribly slow compared to PA's lightning midfield.
Let's hope that our extra rest and practice time has allowed us to improve our kicking skills so that what we lack in leg speed against PA in the midfield will be
matched by very fast, precision ball movement

I don’t see how we win this game when we select slow players
Ports one wood is there spend on the outside of the contest and quick ball movement
Our clearance numbers haven’t been great so if we lose that battle they get the ball out our defence will be under attack all night
The only advantage I see is we might have a emotional lift showing murph support
If we lose this and then Anzac Day our season is likely dead in the water
We would likely only be able to 1 or 2 games the remainder of the season to be a realistic chance of making the finals

In : work harder into space to create lead and offer offensive variations when working towards F50 entries.

Out : do not just bomb it long from defence into the HFF or inside 50.

The Bulldogs cut St. Kilda apart last night with variations in their ball movement.
That presented St. Kilda defenders with headaches. It gave the Dogs multiple avenues to goal with flowing ball movement. Looked like us last year.
We have the personnel capable of doing this. It's not all about speed.

I'd put Hill as the Sub. At present his work rate over 4 qtrs is not where it should be. If he starts, get him higher up the ground.

I tend to agree with you LH - Hill has not been dynamic enough and it might be a bit of a kick he needs.
I think he would be a great burst player whereas WHE is an endurance player - he doesn't seem to slow down from start to finish.

We've more than enough capability with our named defenders in IQ, Maynard, Crisp, Noble + WHE to manage their smalls.

There's a lot of hype about their midfield - but lets be honest, its from a couple good games by a couple of individuals where they ran around unchecked. I reckon the team is overrated, but also acknowledge they do have three very good (and getting better) young mids -just not sure they can single handedley carry the team every week.

I dont think they will have someone run with either Nick or Jordy, and they are severly wanting in both attack and defence (seriously, you would think Ratagulouea was Glen Jackovich or something...).

The ones who seem to trouble us are Powell-Pepper (a bit like Viney - we seem to get rolled by the bigger midfield bulls) and Willie Rioli.

Hoping to see a better game from the likes of Cox and looking forward to Howe, Moore and Frampton building their cohesion now we know Murph aint coming back.

well, according to Mick McGuane in the herald sun this morning, this is a battle between the best midfield in the AFL and the 12th best midfield in the AFL, us, being 12th. Combine that with a forward line probably rated about the same, how could we win a flag. Well, we just did.

^ Regarding going into our fwd 50 we need to put more balls to “grass”

As Ports defenders are crap at ground ball gets. They are dead last for ground ball gets and someone on you tube (ilovepiesfooty) I think said that Billy Frampton has more ground ball gets than all of Ports defenders!

If we keep putting sky balls into the forward 50 hoping that Checkers or Reef are going to mark them we will get picked off by the likes of Ratagoulea and Aliir.

Put the ball to ground and let the likes of Bobby, Mccreery, Billy and co go to work with enormous pressure.

Recent results may indicate otherwise. We gave up 8 goals to smaller forwards against Hawthorn, and that wasn't the first time small forwards have hurt us in the last few years. None of our current smaller backs are that good at sitting on small forwards. I suspect its a by-product of our attacking running back tactics. An old school back pocket would do the job. However, we dont have one.
