Remember Its actually not the amount Cloke wants its the restraint of the clubs salary cap
The Club has more than enough money to double his bid if required
Lift the salary cap amount and all is solved

Its not whether or not the club could afford to pay more, it is whether or not Cloke deserves such a ridiculous pay-packet, given his performance on (and off!) field this year.

According to his dad and the manager lol. carlton and Melbourne have denied the existence of these offers.
And in any case the circumstances of the other clubs are clearly different to ours, realistically Cloke isn't worth more than 700K a year.

The sides were more than $10 million apart in the guaranteed portion of the contract on Wednesday, the person told The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because talks are ongoing."

YES, but remember our population is only a mere fraction of the USA. More people live in New York and surrounds, than in the whole of Australia. They have a massive pool to draw on. 8)
And Brees can be counted on to make the pass. He doesn't fluff a pass to a wide open receiver like Cloke misses goals from 20m out.

Unless he's prepared to come out publicly and say he'll accept no more than a 4 year deal at around $700,000 pa in order to assist the club stay within its salary cap and to help us win Premierships, then I don't want him.

If we give in to his current outlandish demands, this will come back to haunt us. It will signal that we can be held to ransom. The team solidarity will be severely broken once its clear that other players will have to get less money or get de-listed.

I'll forgive you Trav for your brain fade on TFS but you have to demonstrate some concern for your teammates and the interests of the club. Over to you Trav.

I don't know, those clubs probably would have more support for him up forward, without Cloke Collingwood has no forward line

Let's get real. He is nowhere near 68% accuracy
Forget the innaccuracy issue. That's real, but a red herring. These are the stats that matter to me.

T. Cloke 163 games 257 goals (1.58 goals per game)

L. Franklin 156 games 502 goals (3.28 goals per game)

And Travis wants the same money or more than Buddy gets.
how about you put up a stat that compares contested marks. Or maybe you could put up a stat that shows how many entries inside 50 are targeted at cloke vs franklin.

Franklin is a wonderful player. So is Cloke. They both are crucial to their team's chances (which i thought you would acknowledge given how much you hate Chris Dawes).

so sick of people clutching one stat and suggesting that proves a players worth. such a waste of a post.

Contested marks = if dropped, possibilty of ball falling to small forwards anyway ( as opposed to kicking it OOF or missing from 10 yards out).

Inside 50's - dont we have 1 of, if not, the best midfield going around ( to pump it inside 50)?

Goals = greater chance of winning.

Do your job Travis - kick farking goals!

Saturday's the test. Will Lonergan own Cloke again like he did in the grand final? Or will Travis strike back, kick 6 and raise his asking price $100,000.

Stay tuned.

Hmm... interesting find Anne. I hope this doesn't mean he'll be trying to persuade Trav to join the Scum in a way which isn't obvious. :?

Then he should take the highest offer and run. While other clubs say they are interested in Cloke, none have confirmed any actual offers or figures. Only Cloke and his Daddy are spruiking the $1million+ offers.

Some of the "front-runners" are running away from any such claims - Melbourne and Carlton both seem bemused by the media speculation and rumours. Fremantle have admitted they are interested, but no-one knows what figures they have been talking, despite the rumours of multimillion dollar deals.
