Could be the equivalent of signing Michael Jackson after he made 'The Wall', or, the equivalent of signing Stevie Wright after he made 'Evie Parts 1,2 & 3'.

i am highly confident he will stay. My guess is that he asked for a certain price and the pies doubted he could get that in the free market. Langdon obviously needs to show the pies what his market value is by getting offers (i do this every single year). this doesnt mean he would only play for collingwood if we match it, but it enables the parties to enter discussions with a clear idea of market. it also means that Langdon can assess what collingwood's offer looks like compared to market. A 10% home town discount is pretty typical (it can be even higher when free agency is miles away)
Great news. I think the player is important but not irreplaceable but for some reason I would have been very disappointed if we couldn't or didn't keep all the boys together after last year. After the year they went through it would be such a shame not to see them rock up and give it a real shake next year too! I'm quite happy for Langdon, I think he's got a good future at the Pies and will be a bit of folklore at the end of his career with us (remember all those players who became elite and won premierships with late draft picks...) etc.
Bloody good news. I'm a bit worried about 2 years from now though, when JDG, Moore, Langdon, et al, are all out of contract and are free agents. We'd better have coin in the bank and another shot or two at the flag by then!
