I think so.sherrife wrote:Depends what you mean by right for me. Could i have a great time with them, sure. Could we have decent conversations, yes. Could we have great sex, definitely. argh!
I honestly didn't think I'd 'connect' with Tildy at first, so to speak... but we most certainly have and I haven't regretted a minute of it.
Is there no chance at all they could be right for you?
Would I learn more about the world through our conversations, probably not. Would they challenge me to be more consequent - to live my ideals, probably not. Would they inspire growth - intellectually, politically, emotionally, probably not. All this is based not on hasty judgements but on being friends with them for a while.
I've already had a great relationship where the first things were achieved, and I found it wasn't enough... I'm looking for at least some of the second list of things now. Know what I mean?
That's fair enough, and I guess it's great you know what you're looking for... and I hope you find such a person.
I hope you don't set the bar too high though. I always thought, for example, that the girl of my dreams would have to be highly intellectually aware, very intelligent and yada yada. I've since realised that I would find such a person very intimidating, and they would probably end up with a superiority complex. Tildy might be closer to the Sonya character you described on facebook, and frankly I think that is closer to what I'm actually looking for...
anyway, in the end I am hardly the expert when it comes to relationships so I'm not even sure why I'm giving advice, but regardless, I hope everything works out for you and you find the girl you're looking for.

With all due respect (being serious for a second) you sound like you're looking for a mentor, not a partner.sherrife wrote:Depends what you mean by right for me. Would I learn more about the world through our conversations, probably not. SO? Would they challenge me to be more consequent - to live my ideals, probably not. But would they support you in challenging yourself? Would they inspire growth - intellectually, politically, emotionally, probably not. Why do they need to inspire growth? All this is based not on hasty judgements but on being friends with them for a while.

A partner doesn't need to drag you forward, it's quite conceiveable that they can be there to support you, be the rock on which you fall back when every thing else turns to sh1t, the one person you can rely on to tell you that you aren't insane and it is worthwhile, even if they don't fully understand what the hell you're talking about.
You been watching dodgy movies and fallen in love with the image of some female latin revolutionary?

Tess, take it up with the mods. They've told you that before and it was posted in the other forum that both you and Joff were getting the emails.Tess wrote:OK also being serious..... am I over reacting?
Nothing to do with Nicks, but I got a surprise email Christmas Morning. I got an official warning emailed to me that had I found out had been drafted 5 days earlier, I waited till Boxing day to voice my distaste about the timing as I have no objection to the actual warning. The Executive Committee that had it sent see nothing wrong with the timing of it, even suggesting I was being a little temperamental, me temperamental .... really me as if!

Is that meant to be an inference (again) that I am Joffa? Or is there yet another conspiracy about to emerge? Or have the mods asked that you don't respond to me too?Tess wrote:ya know Pica..... oops sorry Mods.
Thought you'd have enough on your plate ATM with virtually calling the club president a liar...and the Indian suitor....and whatever else
