We have no one to replace Presti -

J Cloke showed this year he isn't ready for a key position - he MAYBE next year - doubt it - but MAYBE.

Clement could hold down CHB for one year, then retire cause his body would be completely ruined.

Walker - he may not even get a seniors game!! Sure I like the look of him but come on, a fair bit of pressure on a kid who looks like one day he will be good, but at the moment is still trying to cement a spot in the 22.

Maxwell will be a gun, but perhaps not a key position (but maybe, depends on what the fitness / weights guru do and what the coaching staff want) but he certainly isn't a CHB next year.

In a couple of years Wakes and Clement will retire. Then our backline will want to be

FB - Presti
CHB - J. Cloke
3rd tall - Maxwell
4th tall - Lonie (if required)

Tex may be there or there abouts (maybe) but he may also be a good replacement for Presti when he goes. Presti is a quality full back, who needs a good preseason to regain full fitness and hopefully a yard of pace. Then he'll be back to his best, in the black and white.

The word around the traps (from i can't remember who) is that Tex is already pencilled in as the 2005 key defender. Thus Presti is redundant to our plans and tradeable for something decent. If that is wrong, it is wrong.

Last year while I was living in Perth I happened to watch Morrison play for Swan Districts (who wear black & white stripes) in their last match. He played a solid game but like Cam I can only visualise him playing for the Seagulls if we entertain the idea of picking him up. A good tactic this trading period might be maintaining players, sending the message that we have faith in them, rather than something resembling re-building which could take us backwards.

Joel, I'm with you all the way on this one. Presti is a very good player. FOR US. He is more vauable then you think. You don't know how good something is until it is gone. Keep him. One year injured and we all say he goes. Yes, he has vaule, but he has at least one more year at Magpieland.

Cam, if what you say is correct, expect us to take an ABSOLUTE BELTING down in the backline next year.

I can confirm the post of Cam, Tristan Walker has been informed that he will be playing full back in 2005 and this is a major factor in the club shopping Simon Prestigiacomo.

This has been confirmed by two seperate sources within the club.

That is a shame Presti has a cool head, plenty of expierence. Walker has nowhere near the football smarts of Presti, trading him could hurt we need him as a mentor for the younger blokes for at least another year!

I'd hate to get rid of Presti. A solid defender and I doubt Tex is ready just yet...we'll have to wait and see...

Doubt it. Tex isn't ready to hold FB full time, at best he's a back up FB, at worst a back up third tall. Not disputing what you've said, but what tehy tell a palyer and what eventuatesare often two different things

Presti is our Nicholson wen full strength rarly gets beaten dont trade him unless u can gain a young midfielder or a young full back.....only thing with presti is his age but still a very valuable member to the magpies mix a reason that we struggled in 2004!

according to ten news here the pies have gone "cold" on getting morrison due to chasing joel smith. morrison may now end up at the kangapoos. im sure we can afford to get both?? so im hoping anyways. i guess they do play a similar game - HB roles.

I'd say given our non-performance elsewhere they will try and trade for one of Morrison or Smith and take the other in the PSD.
