it was a ok debut for iles. a couple of shocking kicks but ok just needs to improve a bit. can also give good run from hbf/bp.

Well done Sam . After a debut like that we'll see a lot more of him in Black & White .

Does anyone know why Pendles didn't play ?

C1 was good until he did his hammy .

[In summing up, he looks and plays like a skinny Scott Burns.]

Great description Die4Pies. Watching him last night a couple of times the resemblance was striking. Love the look of this kid! Hard, good skills, reads the play well, backs himself a bit, and always looks composed. Really liked his game last night against the toughest opposition I the comp. Next 4-5 years is starting to look pretty bloody good!

Sam did do a few mistakes, but he will learn from it, by the way he is very fast and quick to run.

great debut, 16 touches is solid in anyones language, was outbodied a couple of times by Bode, and his disposal was ordinary on occasion, but he will learn a great deal from the experiance and develop some composure over time, certaintly didnt look overawed, and has sent a message to MM about his "big game credentials"

So;

Heath Shaw
Travis Cloke
Chris Egan
Dale Thomas
Scott Pendlebury
Harry O'Brian
Sean Rusling
Sam Iles

Only one of these blokes has hit 20 yet (Heath) and he practically looks a future captain of the club! All the rest look to at least have the potential to play 50+ games for the club and more than one looks to have the potential to be a star.

Welcome to the club Sam Iles!
Your (and our) future looks bright!
GO PIES!

Looks to be another handy addition to our midfield. Good recruiting in that area over the last couple of years. Next year or so we'll start reaping some reward

I thought there was a lot to like about Iles effort on the big stage in front of a hostile pack of ferals. He gets a pass mark from me just for his attack on the ball.

With so many skinny kids we need a new strength and body building coach. Lets go for Floyd Landers or Justin Gaitlin.

Sam is player that plans ahead. Looks for space and anticipates where the ball needs to be for his teammate to take an uncontested make.

The leason Apples learnt last night was that opposition AFL players will fill those spaces very quickly.

Given more game time and further work in the gym, he will accustomise himself to the speed and physicality of AFL and those virtiual gaps will open up again for him.

Good start for Sam.
