Very true and I have heard Barge and Lloyd both say (many times) that the sports science guys are now over ruling the coaches on what the players load should be at training.

That is usually followed by a few words and the sh*t word.

Amazing that when Piggy was with the Hawks and wednesday night was optional night - he used to take 100 host for goal.
Imagine him doing that now with the sports science geeks there - but what would Piggy know - he only kicked a few goals

I don't know what makes me laugh more the sports science guys and the work load or them ruling on the gym routines - most of them would be lucky to have ever lifted a barbell - and it does show.

Have a look at the Strength training coaches on the NFL teams - they are all very experienced in the practical side of their field - and less in the theory world.
Coaches give you direction but skills win you matches.

PLEASE don't ANYONE tell me JMAC!!! is any good. What a waste of a game when Medders SHOULD have played a warm up game today. , Sorry Josh but thats it mate. You were terrible. Leroy back for him. I said I wouldn't knock Wellingham but he is a seriously REPEAT offender when it comes to turnovers.Say what you like about how many possesions he gets, BUT the FARKING turnovers kill us. Dids ( HOPEFULLY) in for him.Blair stays. Nathan Brown OUT!!! Presti ( PLEASE ) in for him. Sack the SACK, come back Johnno. Thats my changes for next week and for the rest of the finals.
Not a big deal about the loss.Poor kicking rears its ugly dial again. We should have won by 3 goals .Still ( MINOR PREMIERS) Big deal

Can someone who was watching at home, or on radio, tell me how come steele's "mark" wasn't paid in the last quarter.

Once again errant kicking for goal has cost us the game. when will we ever learn? 13 goals from 30+ shots at goal is a disgrace. i'm not going to blame beams for his last minute miss. all the team had opportunities throughout the match to kick goals. why the F*** do we still insist on setting up play from the boundary line or lead towards it. i don't think that the players were up for this one. they obviously had their minds on next week saying that, we still should have won.

Disappointing to lose it, but ah well, no big deal. We did well for a team with little to play for. A good hit out coming into the finals. The loss may even do us some good, letting the players know they need to be fully focused next week.

More important than the result:

Leon: very good first half, decent second half. Should hold his spot.
Blair: good game, must be part of our 22 next week.
Fraser: some good ruck work, didn't do much around the ground. Out for L.Brown.
Dawes: best game for a while. Definite finals starter.
McCarthy: played a tagging role, barely sighted. Won't play finals.
Goldsack: ordinary again, makes too many mistakes. With Reid back, may not be needed.

Changes for next week (assuming all fit):
in: Presti, Didak, L.Brown
out: Fraser, McCarthy, Goldsack
Well done boys!

Touched off the boot.

Beams though... for someone who's seen as skilled and composed, his kicking for goal is a worry. Wouldn't have been too happy if that game actually meant something.

Medders slayed them in the VFL, apparently, and Lockyer was very good.

So at the least Medders, Presti, Dids, Johnson, Leroy to come in for finals - some very handy experience and talent missing from our team today. Almost 20-25% change up to be a much improved outfit one would think. We'll certainly need to on the past two weeks.

As disappointing as the past fortnight has been, time to chill everyone. Sit back like I just did and have a good look at it. The facts are it all starts again come finals time regardless of whether you've smashed in two big wins at the end of the year or dished up two dodgy efforts. One thing is certain - we won't be going in cocky!

Keep the faith, we'll be ok. Most teams have a lull throughout the year, so hopefully we've just experienced ours.

the 'mark' itself was fine but the kick was touched off the boot in the other forward pocket. fair call by the ump.

If you let Lancie get a PB of 6 goals, what do you expect????

WE MUST GET OUR GOAL KICKING RIGHT BEFORE THE FINALS.

Missing easy shots at goal today just proves what happens against good sides. They will chop you into tiny pieces & spit you out!

Pray someone knocks HAW out cause if we meet them in the finals, we're cooked!

Meh, game was meaningless and they played that way. Only natural competitive spirit in the last 2 made it worth watching.

Cue was firmly in the rack. Just put the +1 in the L column and move on.
