I think he is really an A grader.
Thank god.
I thought you said Hine hasn't delivered any a graders. Not good at recruiting I believe. Just quietly I think he knows a little more than you.
I will have more to say about Hine in the next few weeks.
Oh yes, 1 good pick makes him the best.
Wait till Scharenberg starts playing. Two A graders from the one draft with only 3 picks is a bloody good effort. Throw Freeman into the mix and the 2013 draft may end up being the best since 2005.

If you can't snag an A grader in the top 10 draft picks then you really ain't
much of a recruiter.
Look in the paper on the morning of the draft and see what the experts think.
Hey it is not rocket science.
It is not the top dozen picks that make a recruiter it is the later picks and rookie draft that matters.

It would be interesting to see if Langdon could play forward.
He reads the flight of the ball so well.
He can also kick long.
Last night in the last quarter he kicked a 60 m bomb at the goal.

I see him as a potential Pendles type midfielder, with his calmness under pressure and elite disposal skills.

Interesting comment - you maybe right.

Is it just me or does Langdon look very much like graeme allen as a player.
As long as he doesnt take kick outs like G A , he will be fine.

Rubbish. Look at the top ten picks over the past decade. Getting a top ten pick is by no means a gaurantee of an A grader. Hell, a number 1 pick is no guarantee of an A grader.
If you want to go down the path of later picks and rookie picks, show me another recruiter who has had more success with late picks, and especially rookies, than Hine.

Yes Mr Know All.
Chris Egan pick 10 in 2004 from Hine was a bobby dazzler!
Seriously I never said it was a certainty getting an A grader from the top 10.
Only it wasn't that hard.
His 5 top 10 picks last decade produced 4 A graders and one dud.
But of those four - Pendles, Daisy, Brown and Reid were all highly rated.
So wow he is an absolute genius!!!! Only Hine could have done that!
Next time get your rose coloured glasses off.

Calm, smart, poised and skilled. Without him we lose tonight despite some gutsy efforts. He had the composure we needed late (along with Pendles but he's already an all time great).
This
I gave him top votes because of the above (was hard to split Langdon, Pendles and sidey)
In his 2nd season I already have him in our top 10 for importance to our future.

Yeah Geelong!
they had 4 top ten picks for the whole of last decade.
3 picks were absolute stars
Selwood, Bartel and Mackie
the last Kane Tenace was good but was struck down by injuries.
They did win a number of flags so their later picks must have been good.

Don't know about their later picks but their endless father / son picks were and being the ONLY team anywhere that doesn't share their home ground could have little bit to do with as well.

droversdog65 we also have had few father/son picks
Think the Cloke brothers the Shaw brothers and Davis

Name their late picks that turned into stars then? Their rookies? Surely they will outnumber the pies? They should, because Wells is rated as the best recruiter in Australia, with Hine and Rendell considered second and third respectively. Wright from Hawthorn is good, but has a better eye for trading in mature talent (which he is the best at) rather than picking up kids through the draft.
Seriously, you say I have rose coloured glasses on. You must have shit stained ones, because apparently a monkey could do a better job than Hine in your eyes.

Hine wasn't in charge of recruiting in 2004 and Egan was another dud pick by Noel Judkins (one of heaps that spud gave us) so best you get your facts right before you criticize Hine for Chris Egan.
Hine had Pendles (who wasn't considered a top 10 pick at the time) and Thomas as his first selections in 2005 when everyone reckoned we should have went Xavier Ellis at pick 2. Hine knew better and these two were absolute keys for the 2010 flag whereas Ellis was only ever an ordinary player and Pendlebury has turned out to be the best player from that draft hands down imo.
Hine has got some wrong but uncovered some gems and for the inexact science of recruiting I'd say he's far more in credit than debit. He's very good at what he does.
Hine has been excellent for us.
