Not as excited about this as most. I get that he's a proven performer and on face value I guess he's a good pick up but everyone has a used by date. I just hope he's got some fresh ideas and not just rehashed hawk ones. Gotta keep evolving. FWIW, I think he was the most underrated player of his era. A genuine star. Cautiously optimistic

^Yeah, I saw it elsewhere. Taking the whole H&A season off? It's legit news but seriously, dude, take 3 months if you want a holiday or do what everyone else does, make do with 4 weeks.

Certainly seems odd to match the entire season exactly. I doubt he will be back.

Look if it’s a trip of a lifetime you are going on with your wife, at some point you have to prioritise that ahead of your work. It doesn’t mean that your commitment will disappear and these days with the means of instant communication, you can still remain involved and connected to the club from wherever you are in the world. To me, it’s not a huge problem.

If I had the opportunity to take a six month break from work and go and travel or live somewhere else for a while I would take it. Actually I’ve done that twice so why can’t Wrighty.

He’s righted the ship got it going in the right direction and we won a premiership. Why not go on a high.

Wright is an administrator, all contracts are under control, he would have ensured the path is clear to have a sabbatical.
He is a wise head, and will be missed, but it may not just be his decision alone, his wife has missed out over the years too. It's our reality.
On balance, we can have our cake and eat it too, his input will be there for finals… if the footy dept cant cope with managing the football program in the meantime, that would be a bigger issue.

Wright still feels the effects of Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). Anyone who has suffered from that or knows someone who has understands. He's worked non-stop in Football for over 10 years and anyone who has worked 10 years gets Long Service Leave which is like 42 working days. He's 55 and life is not totally about Football. If he needs 6 months off I say go for it, too many people I know have died without enjoying life away from work. The club has processes in place for others to step into and learn as well. I wish him well and hope he and his wife have a great time and relax.

Grahame? We'll start calling you Max Walker.

Max Walker: 'And Grahemey Labrouy takes his first wicket'
Bill: 'Grahemey Labrouy? His names Graham, Max.'
Max: 'Well Bill, his teamates have got long and complicated names, seems a pity for this young man to miss out. I reckon I'll just go on calling him Grahemey'
Bill: 'Geez, you're f*cked in the head sometimes, Max'

^As a Sri Lankan born Aussie, I absolutely loved it when the recordings first aired. We used to play it most weekends and still laughed after listening to it for the 10th time
