watt price tully wrote:Correct weight. Medicare anyone? Various systems get ripped off just the wealthier can hide it better. They’ll never do it but a small inheritance tax would be useful for say over $500,000 in property or other forms of inheritance. I also think a small like 0.5 % tax on all share trading for certain types of companies / corporations.
inheratance money was taxed when it was earned, why should it be taxed again?

share profits are alreadt taxed, they are income!

Surely the problem here is criminals who need to be stopped and caught, not that there's too much money around for them to steal?

It's like if someone burgled your house and the response was "maybe you should try having less money"!? Clearly that's not the issue.

Might want to try reading my post again!

You get annoyed with me for selectively quoting, but the reason I do it is to specify the part of the post I'm responding to, not that I haven't read the rest of what you wrote. In this case, it was this:

and you said "not that there's too much money around for them to steal?"
where does that come from? clearly if criminals have a system to rip of the system for BILLIONS there is money around for them to steal?

Nope, I said the problem is that the criminals need to be caught, not that there's too much money. If there's "too much money", that's not a problem and it's not the reason that this is happening (just as increasing NDIS funding isn't going to make the problem worse; these are entirely separate issues).

Tax cuts haven't been touched.

I'll be interested to see where they build these million new affordable houses, maybe near the day care centers where the families earning $500k get 90% of their fees paid.

so talking of NDIS!

since covid ended and we started socializing again, ive noticed i miss so much of the conversation, and if you know me well you know i love to talk and join in, even if its the first time im meeting you!!! Im a born socialiser anywhere i go! ive been using cheap hearing aids my sister put me on to, but they just make things loud, not clear. Last week i was miserable after a small get together, so i did some research intending to just buy something on line. Yeah that sounds crazy, but ive had 3 fitted ones long ago, that were not much better than the cheapies! and they are expensive! and easy to lose! I came across hearingsavers, they have the best prices and its all inclusive. but i didnt know which one to get, so i rang and chatted, and got talked into a test and face to face. Its in essendon so not far. the lady was amazing, after the stiff upper lip ones ive seen before she was so compassionate. you see, no one likes hearing aids. unless you were born totally deaf i guess! i didnt know i had a problem at all until GMH got the machine tested as my results were so odd! apparently it was medication i had as a baby for a pretty bad heart condition (which is totally fine now!).anyway, this lady was finishing my sentences! it was freaky! she filled in all the negative reasons, and all the reasons ive put up with it, and understood the pain from the jokes that people seem to think are acceptable if you cant see a persons deficiency.
i commented that i just want a little help with clarity, dont want to spend a fortune and olny want 1! She says well lets do a test and see, because i think you will be eligable for totally free ones under the NDIS scheme!! huh? nah, its not that bad, and isnt it means tested? No, not yet its not, no mention of her opinion of my hearing!
After the test she said "well its amazing, i have no idea how you have managed so well socially up to now". say what, its only 30%. um nope! along with age, time, and damage from cheap aids its double that by the sound of it! pardon the pun!
So yes, as she thought, i definitely qualify and my parents should have got me aids as a kid, rather than belting me for not listening! She says it will take a few weeks, meanwhile i can lend you some samples we have, so you can see how it feels to have them. doesnt wait for an answer, grabs a box, unwraps it, charges them and whacks them in, yes 2 not 1! top of the range of the modest ones i had in mind! OMFG. I said your voice is so clear. yes she says, and im now talking normally. huh? like softer? yep. so she connects them to an app on my phone, and calls someone, and the phone works through the hearing aids! damn unreal! she says i qualify for the top of the range ones! I mean how bad is it! so i guess i should say thankyou to the people who make an effort for me, i had no idea you had to do that, Stu, its been a while but still, Jezza i must drive you crazy! Morrigu, you too!

it will take getting used too, fast talkers and directional issues, but yeah, the new models are so comfortable i didnt know they were there!

so will i go through NDIS (i was shocked when she asked if i had an OTHER disabilities, i mean i didnt know i had 1!) yes, i will, just to the point of what i need to rejoin society! cheers!
