Agree although hawkins didn't see much of it last week against better opposition.Zakal wrote:Nath wrote:Injury permitting, he will be one of the few players able to be nominated this year that will play all of the year.

He has been shitloads better than gibbs so far this year.....better than Murphy too. haven't seen much of Ryder, but if last years award was anythign to go by....a defender wont win it even if he is twice as good as teh goal-kicking midfielder he is competing against.
Id actually be more worried by Tom Hawkins at this stage, given a tall forward is such a rare position to see a kid dominate in so early, it will attract him a lot of notice if he can keep it up.

Yeah, and that will be the make or break factor for him. If he can be consistent in his first year, it will truly be one of the greatest debut seasons of all time given the position he plays.
As i said, IF he can keep it up he has it in the bag...the question mark is whether he can. I find it hard to believe that he will, because its just such a big ask.

Very pleased with the nomination. I have indicated to my young son that Pendles #10 is the number to place on the footy jumper long term.
Good luck on Anzac day Boy's, with all that has gone on with our great club inparticular of recent times i say to the boy's play like the diggers fought and we are home.

I think Davey might be too old.favourites 2006 wrote:Disagree, he will be very inconsistant this year. Prismall will be more of a worry, seems to be playing very well this year. Others of concern will be A. Davey and Higgins. But at this point it would be pendles 1st and prismall 2nd ryder 3rd hawkins 4th.
Actually think there will be a lot of kids come to prominance this year, some who aren't even on the radar yet.
Pendles has shown enough to suggest we've picked up a gem, well done!

Well done Pendles and I am certain you will win it this year. You are all class and the scarry thing is that you have not even reached 50% of your potential. Now I know what Collingwood meant when they were talking about his up side!RudeBoy wrote:A longterm midfield brigade of 'Sparky' Thomas, Pendles, Dids, Heater and Swan will finally deliver us the class we've been lacking.
With regards to Hawkins, his form will tail off a bit as Key Position is harder to hold form in than Midfield and of course a lot will depend on how the ball is delivered to him!
Rude Boy, it will certainly be nice in the future having teams worrying about how to tagg our players out of the game rather than us having to put 1-2 taggs per game on the players. The more bums you are chasing in a game, that harder it is to win it!
As much as we cant stand Judd and Kerr, the fact that both are tagged each game speaks volume of their ball getting and damaging ability! I could see the same scenario with Dids and Pendles in the Midfield one day or whatever the combination may be!
