That's what I was thinking Dave. Looks very good value. Pendles looking good too.

Hmmm Pendles is about right value-wise, and Cox might be a goer - his odds will drop quickly once he's nominated - IF.

But man, those are some damn good odds for Shannon Hurn and Patrick Ryder...

And can I assume that those not listed are on longer odds? Wouldn't mind a dip on Alwyn Davey.

Ryder might be a shot at it... or Pendles.

Cox is very well priced.

The Rising star is a scam. How many times do you see a guy have a great week and not get picked then a few weeks later has a crap game and gets nominated?

You'd imagine that those who have already been nominated would be on comparatively low odds.

I'm sure Gibbs is a good player, but $3.50 for a guy who hasn't received a nomination yet is a little strange.

I'd like to think Cox or Pendles would get it :) We haven't had a rising star winner yet (Bucks won in the first year, but that was with the Bears).

Davey can't win it, too old. I reckon Hawkins will be dropped this week, i would put a couple on either selwood or pendles or higgins.

Oh yeah it's a bit of a bullshit award. We might prove it this year - look at the media treat it like a Brownlow if a Brisbane kid gets it... but if one of ours wins, they'll ignore it hehe.

And one thing I don't get is, where a kid has a blinder and some other kid gets picked. And they always come back with "we pick kids that string a couple of good games together". Oh yeah, then how do you pick the round 1 nominee, smartasses? This is the most unimaginative committee in footy. They'll go with the #1 draft pick every year if he plays more than 12 games.

Didn't you people learn anything from last year? Collingwood players can't win the award.

Very interesting by sports bet to finally put a market on the rising star.
I got $10 on Pendles to win the brownlow at the start of the year $1001
I rang back about 2 hours later to get him for the rising star & they wouldn't give me odds, (they new i was after the double)
Now he gets nominated they can ripp his odds apart & i bet they like most didn't no Pendles would be in the running for the rising star or Charlie.

Does Pendles need another gear?

Post by cfc2009-10-11-12 »

My main concern although he has shown alot of promise is that he only seems to be one paced, by that I mean he always looks like he is in cruise control - Sure his disposal and ability to make space for himself is great to watch but I'm interested to know whether people think he may need to get a 2nd and 3rd gear to become exceptionally good...

Thoughts?

exactly like nick dal santo i suppose. He will never seem to be over exerting himself which is a fantastic asset to have, but also a terrible problem because when you have a bad game it seems as if you are not trying. I suppose we dont need pendles to be a 30 possession a game player if he can have 20 telling touches a game and set up a few goals

I don't think so. He will get a lot better than he is now, and I don't think he will need another gear.
