Fantastic win by the boys. Congratulations Leon Davis.
(Still doing a stint on night shift so got 3 hrs sleep watched the game & back to work)
Through the TV what impressed me was:
1. The intensity that we played the first 3/4 today.
2. Jarryd Blairs first 1/2.
3. Travis's multiple contested marks
4. Ball, Jolly, Pendles, Swannie, Beams & Goldsack
5. The whole bloody team!
Simply crushed Carlton.
Personally, I blame Malthouse. All that work on SEN as a special comments person simply takes away from his focus.
Now for Geelong next week who smashed the Swans but they have some players who pulled up a bit sore. They looked physically huge on the TV. Is it their their horizontal hoops?
Go Pies.

End of story my ass. Will be the biggest story in footy for years judging by the progress of this amazing team.Hm wrote:He has a 5 year contract with Collingwood, end of storyBig T wrote:Imagine also how many teams will be lining up for Malthouse at the end of next year? I don't care what anyone says he will be the most wanted man in football come the end of 2011.

As Bristle would say - OH BOY! WOWEE! - imagine what we could do with a list as good as Carltons! The Pies have an average list but are very disciplined and are very well drilled by a gun coach. We on the other hand have a very good list but are coached by a Carlton supporter. Ratten is not a coach. He just watches the game as a supporter and is just waiting to cheer on the next goal. He has to go before our players lose even more confidence!! Surely the board can see this?? We have no Game plan!!
Mick has developed this year and it must be two things: (1) the Buckley factor - just having him around gives real impetus to us, and (2) our list has matured and developed faster than most of us thought.
That brings me to the real stupidity of that Scum-lover's quote. HTF can they possibly say we have an average list and they have a good one? Nothing could be further from the truth. Judd is virtually finished, and their kids haven't come on.
Suck it up Scum-lovers. You may be coming but we just **** all over you.
Bottom line. Carlton have a lot of top draft picks. And those "kids" would be a well drilled machine under Malthouse cemented in the top 4, rather than an up and down rabble targetting 9th place.
And you know it.

And that's really Jolly and Ball's mature age inflating that figure too.GoWoodsmen wrote:Yep I've got no life...
For what it's worth, based on the 22 that ran out for each team today here's what I found:
Pies
Avg Age: 24.04
Avg Matches: 97.95
18-21: 5
22-25: 9
25+: 8
Although having Presti line up today may have blow it out further again?
Anyhoo, way more youth than veterans in the current 22.
And anybody hear the ch.10 commentater today state something to the effect that "Judd is over-burdoned carrying Carlton on his back, and getting no assistance"?
Sympathy factor: ummm... yeah... like zero.
With any luck, come October we'll be polishing the silverware, while Judd is polishing his head, and wishing he could turn the clock back three years and had listened to Eddie, and not his accountant.

He'll be lying in bed now having just disappointed Beck yet again, thinking "how did that Wellingham bloke run so fast".piedys wrote:And that's really Jolly and Ball's mature age inflating that figure too.GoWoodsmen wrote:Yep I've got no life...

if you said to judd in 2007 that he, within 3 years, he would be leading a carlton with no fevola, setanta as the key forward [when he plays], and a bunch of downhill skiers so reliant on him that he would wear out a shoulder carrying them... and the other team, collingwood, was on the verge of ripping things apart...
he would not have gone there.
karma is a biatch.

Love ya Mrs. Karma.
BTW- Hun debate this week. Betts vs Davis. Debate over.
Carlton have no leaders. Judd is looking worn out. He doesn't look like he wants to be the leader. I've said it since the day he was made captain. Never ever make a guy captain who has not earned his stripes at your club. It sends a shocking message to all the other players. He makes him the frigging messiah and all the others keep passing the buck to the bald man. In two years time he will be completely worn out and they will have gone nowhere. They should rotate the leadership and stop all this downhill skiing.
And for all those Carlton supporters who left at 3 qtr time and lit all all the boards at the radio stations understand this- you tried but our early pressure smashed you and had no idea how to deal with it. You are years away from playing finals type footy. And Chris Judd ain't no messiah and a bunch of taking draft picks don't guarantee anything.

Agreed. Carlton would be a top 4 side this season, if they had Mick as coach. He's quite possibly the best development coach in the comp. Able to instill a culture and team ethic as well as any. And it's not just this year. Our current list has been building to this point for some time, and our previous list under Mick did almost as well with less overall talent.Big T wrote:You are dancing around the issue Jack.jack_spain wrote:Craig is still doing alright. Mick is a super coach, and any, particularly young and developing team, would jump at the chance of signing him. I hope he does stay on as "director of coaching", because I'd hate for us to have to play against a team coached by him. Especially when we'd have a rookie at the helm.
Well done boys!

Carlton is a team I would love to us to beat by one point everytime!!mandy wrote:Of course love the win, but anyone else feeling a bit deflated? We should have won by at least 5 more goals. Carlton are deadset shit.
Think about it!!!Not worth using up extra resourses giving them a hiding when we are getting close to final. In fact I would like us to drop off a bit after the Geelong game to be chgerry ripe for finals!!

Well done Leon and the Daicos torp from Dids was just mouth watering. Add that to the Goldsack torp from full back the other week and it makes me think MM has given the boys a bit more latitute to take risks. That could just win us a flag.
I am going to be unbearable at work this week.
