Great gutsy win over the putty tats.

Hope Chopper Reid has a quick recover with the quad. Nate Brown is the logical replacement.

Geez I hate Geelong now!

And aren't their supporters simply the wussiest, wimpiest Mary Poppins lovin' cretins.

Honestly you should have heard their cheering when they got in front of us in the second quarter. It soundly like 30,000 bleating 6 year old kids.

They went very quiet when we took control in the third quarter though. And it was great to see them empty out at the 20 minute mark of the final quarter.

BTW, what the hell happened with that short quarter?

25 minutes and 50 seconds! Shortest of the year surely.

Time keepers must have missed it when the umpires blew time off. Robbed us of a couple of extra junk time goals!

Just watching the game (couldn't watch it live or be there) .... aside from "you little f'n rippa" and I'm really excited about what this year could bring (and the next four years) here's what I learnt from the game:
- We should have won by 7-8 goals
- That 10-12 minute period in the 2nd quarter by the cats is some seriously scary stuff. Is there any team in the comp that can do as much damage as quickly as they can?
- Maxy is back in form, just in time
- The umpires are paying some of the softest, most pathetic, crime against the game free kicks I have ever seen.
- The umpires are missing some of the most obvious free kicks in the history of the game.... how many times do our boys get their heads ripped off and nothing given. Wrong colour jumper apparently.
- Our kicking for goal is going to decide if we win the flag this year or not.
- The move of Heater to the wing is absolute gold. His run from that zone of the ground is amazing
- Bryan Taylor's nickname of Possum Eyes for Toovey is hilarious!
- That non-goal umpiring decision is a disgrace. That guy will not goal umpire again.
- I wish I could find all those comments on news items by Geelong supporters claiming they were so superior they would beat us by 10 goals.. MUPPETS... the lot of them.
- wtf does Jolly have to do to be treated fairly by the umpires
- I wasn't there but that had to be the loudest crowd all year. Unbelievable noise... hope all you lucky souls there enjoyed it.
- Didak is pure class and a bloody genius. His disposal is just a pleasure to watch
- If there was ever any doubt about Maccaffers spot on the team, after tonight there is no more.
- Geez we were lucky they missed those couple of late shots... but then again they were bloody lucky we missed 22 times!
- Dawesy is very very close to absolutely ripping a game apart. He's been solid but seriously.... I'm talking inches (couple of dropped marks, couple of times running under the ball) difference from a solid game versus a super sensational game.
- Goldsack has to be close to the best 2nd half of the season "in" of any club in the competition (and that includes Revolting)

Good old Collingwood Forever indeed....

Oh and I found a few lookalikes during the match....

Fantastic win, I'm just over the moon because I live in Geelong and it's so hard to deal with a loss to the Cats when you have to face supporters wherever you go. For once (well at least, since 2008) I'm the one walking tall!

Great effort from all involved, but for mine, Wellingham gets my vote for BOG, I know Dids got more possies but it just seemed like Welly was everywhere. Special mention to the backline as well - kept the Cats to three goals in the second half! Brilliant stuff - I just laughed my arse off when Harry smothered Steve Johnson's shot on goal from the boundary. Love to hear what Brownless has got to say about that tomorrow on the panel.

Two negatives I take out of this game: One, the Collingwood haters are bound to find excuses for why Geelong didn't win, not to mention bitch about that non-goal (which actually was a goal, but I'm happy to let the decision stand, lol). Two: Leon Davis has been given so many chances to perform on the big stage, that if he wasn't chasing and tackling he'd be dropped for Medders, for sure. I just hope he doesn't prove a liability in a final.

But having said that, I'm a very proud, very happy girl tonight! To beat Geelong (and the umps, cos I noticed so many Pies players being held off the ball who didn't get frees it wasn't funny) like that, especially when it looked like the Cats were going to get a run on, in the second quarter, is just priceless.
A Pie for Life.

Great team effort, but far from our best performance.

Just imagine when every one of our players put in a great game and we kick straight. Good God we'll win by 10 goals every week against anyone. Seriously, we're THAT good when on song.

- Didak - sheer genius the way he set up some goals. Exquisite passing, unselfish team player. He's now the total package. One of the AFL's elite A-graders - no doubt about that.

- Swanny, hardly noticed as usual as he blew the Cats midfield away.

- Leroy Brown just keeps getting better.

- Pendlebury was great tonight.

- Dale Thomas you star!

- Harry O was back to his best. He pulled off a couple of moves that took my breath away they were THAT good!

- Toovey an unsung hero.

- Presti as always!

- Jolly and Ball the absolute recruits of the year at any club.

- Dane Beams has arrived, but in two years time he'll be even better than Darren Millane.

- Macaffer made an awful error when his snap was smothered and Geelong ran the ball the length of the ground to goal, and proceeded to kick the next 5. But he was simply our best most consistent forward all night. A great game.

- And wasn't Mick foxing with Wellingham.... Sharrod Wellingham you were magnificent tonight!

- Ben Johnson and Goldsack were pretty good.

The rest were ordinary overall, but everyone did something for the team.

I'll admit that at one stage I was suggesting that we give Cloke to the Gold Coast, but then Dawes put in his worst game ever along with Leon (oh dear, do we risk him in the finals? That's a very serious question.)

Well done Pies! We are now deservedly the flag favourites. We can go through the rest of the season undefeated.

Watching the game. Taped it while I was at the game.

Effin fantastic win in the end. The crowd was sensational.

One old bat Geelong supporter told me not to jump up after Dids kicked his goal. I asked her if she was joking and if she thought we were at the ballet. She threated to take my seat number and "report" me to the AFL.

I lol'd at her and told her to go ahead.

Sensational!

Sheer genius tonight. How good was that pass to Daisy in the goal square, and then the inboard chip to Wellingham?

He is now the consummate team player.

Did anyone else notice when Ling ran through the mark? It should have been an automatic 50 metres. Not long after Didak was absolutely raped and got nothing. There were some shocking decisions by the maggots tonight.

That disallowed goal to Geelong was the third of the weekend so far. Now AFL, we want a video referee for contentious goal decisions BEFORE the finals! The argument is that it will waste time. Utter BS! The replay was on the screen within 10 seconds and everyone except the maggots could see it should have been a goal.

I tell you, if it happened in the grand final and cost us the flag, Melbourne would burn!

Great win. One thing for the future - any player wanting a place in this side (outside of injury replacements) has to give a hundred minutes of intensity - even Leon whose pressure work in the forward line was good. we saw the team do this tonight. Anyone wanting a place in this side has to show they can give the team a hundred minutes. Otherwise there is no place for them.

Pretty sure I've seen the same thing 2 or 3 times in our games over the past 4 or 5 weeks. Makes you wonder if the rule has changed. Especially given they paid that shockingly soft 50 to us when one of the Cats players drifted inside the "protected" zone.

Another great win for Mick and the team! The game plan worked a treat!

My brother and I came up with a new nickname for Selwood....."Quack".

The bloke "ducks" constantly into tackles, and scores frees as a result.

What a game. Was most impressed with how we got our marbles together after those panicky moments in the third and wrestled it back. In the past, we'd have just kept leaking goals til the other team was too far ahead. Then we ran away with it with our younger, fitter legs in the last.

Also very impressed with the Caff. Didn't think he had it in him, but could he perhaps be our next Medhurst? And Wellers, what a game (and what a masterstroke to play him as a forward for the first half?)

Some concerns over how easily they went through our zone and exposed our defenders one-out in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Also concerned about Sidebottom's form - time for a rest?

Simply awesome. Played one man down were challenged headed and absorbed the pressure and then ran over the top of them.

The question is not do we believe we can beat them in September, but rather do the cats believe they can beat us come September.

They really are. Bambis in the woods. No idea of what it means to be tough. They think footy is tennis.
