the 'mark' itself was fine but the kick was touched off the boot in the other forward pocket. fair call by the ump.
I am sitting now.

bloody hell, I'd forgotten how shit it feels to lose. Couldn't have asked for 2 better hitouts leading into the finals, a few players stood up, a few shown up, Mick should have a fair idea now on who's going to take us all the way. Disappointed but we didn't just fluke being the best side all year, I'm certain we'll remind everyone of that next week.

most important is we had a really good hit out against a contested type team..

kicking for goal like all season is a worry..fair to say MM was right its not just cloke who ironically only had one shot for goal today and nailed it from 50...

glad there is no major injuries and suspensions and lets pray dids and johnno are back next week :D

only annoying part is watching the last quarter with my hawk supporting wife behind the goals near their cheersquad

The pressure was great, we played a lot better in the second half I though. Good hit out for the finals.

What's going to happen next week? The umps will explode trying to work out wether to pay cheap frees to the swans or to buddy!!! :P

^^Hurt for about 30 seconds. Then I remembered we had very little riding on the result. As you say, an excellent hit out, certainly better than playing someone like the Eagles. Despite losing, I'm confident we had the Hawks measure during that game - add L.Brown, Didak, Johnson and Presti to that team (as well as Hodge to theirs) and we'd win it very comfortably.

Am hoping Hawks are bounced out of the finals in week 1. The only time we manage to keep Franklin in control was when he was suspended and missed the game earlier this year. Even Presti struggles against him.

Both team at full strength, I think the Hawks are better........just...... as I have more confidence in their ability to kick goals and move the ball quickly to tall forwards.

Was disappointed that we let a 10 pint lead slip in 5 minutes. The intensity in those last five minutes was great but we could not snag a goal. Beam's miss was disgraceful.

Overall

JMac - ineffective
Josh - ineffective
Davis - played OK and may retain his spot if Didak remains on the sidelines.
Goldsack - did not play well again and may be omitted.
Dawes - fantastic game. Worked hard all day.
Daisy - flat.....
Ball - flat.....didn't seem to want to put himself in the firing line. Probably the only game he has not come out of the game with a open wound.

Didak, Johnno Presti and Brown are MUST inclusions if fit. ONLY IF FIT. Can not afford to play anyone carrying an injury that affects their ability to play as expected.

the dilema to be faced

Post by Macedonian Marvel #35 »

a nail biting lose we witnessed today , really a dead rubber for the team and im just glad we didnt get blown out of the water or cop any injuries but looking ahead to our first final against the dogs there is going to be some very hard choices to make.

first of all the inclusions today

fraser - (well done on your 200th big fella) 7 touches and 28 hitouts , didnt really have an impact as hoped but did his job in the ruck and shown defensive skills. will struggle to keep his spot for mine.

leon - 2 goals and 12 touches up foward. looked alright and should keep his spot , we need that small foward to go with cloke and dawes.

jmac - 11 touches and didnt really do much. i was shocked he was picked this week , i would have gone with medders. will be omitted.

so none of the 3 really player great games.

did they do enough to keep there spot?

coming back next week we have

1. didak
2. johnson
3. browny
4. presti (maybe)

adding medhurst , tarks and even buckley to that list its really going to be an interesting thursday.

if fraser goes back to the 2s i think it finishes his 2010 season , as we all know the reserves got knocked out today so he wouldnt have anywhere to prove his form.

out of todays loss the only real list i can think that may come under scrutiny in selection are

fraser
jmac
toovey
goldsack
blair

tough week ahead.

what are your thoughts on this weeks selection?

ins and outs?

So, Johnno doesn't get a run? I think he'll be over his "virus" by then.

Completely disagree, we are a far better side at full strength than Hawthorn. Our second 11 craps all over theirs and Roughy is a shadow of his former self.

Yeah, realised I'd forgotten him.

Means we have a tough choice. Have to drop either Leon or Blair. Tough to say, but I'd have to favour Leon.

Toovey is safe, he does all the hard stuff which goes unnoticed and is a critical part of the team.

Goldsack, he has lost his form big time.

Leon spent some time in the middle going by the call, was he effective and did he look fit?
