I don't know which is worse, last night's debacle or waking up to a country led by the mad monk! A carlton win today would surely cap off the most demoralising weekend of all time!
Glad it's over to be honest.
Now for some warm weather & holidays...
I have 6 holidays planned from 25/9 until Easter next year, cool as!
I am looking forward to watching the Victory and Heart (especially with Harry Kewell at Heart). The A-League is going places and Postocoglou might just be the best coach of any sport in the country.
Structurally we went in all wrong. Lynch was a big out and his replacement had to be subbed after an ineffectual half - anyone notice that north kicked three goals last week in the few minutes that lynch was off the ground at the end of the third? The keeffe as forward experiment was ghastly and we had created frankensteins forward line with three big blokes all akimbo and only swan able to do anything there. Should have been the same structure as last week with only Harry and Ball as the ins.
Found it really strange that bux tried to experiment in the finals, will be a good lesson for him in his coaching career.
Also, wasn't the last time that we didn't win at least one final in the John Howard era?
You see I just don't get that. Loyalty is one of the most over-rated of the virtues. Loyalty often leads to blindness to one's own weaknesses. In a competitive world there is no place for loyalty. Everyone needs to be kept on their toes. Perform or piss off! That should be the mantra for the age.
Just felt like there may've been some kind of 'right of passage' attitude from the boys last night. Play some good footy to get in front & then sit back & watch Port roll over?!?!?.... Didn't happen!
Terrible kicking inside 50m - Not only skill errors but bad decision making - Why would you kick it to our only small in the forward line when THREE talls are inside 50m isolated in 1on1's!?!?
Brown seemed to be labouring?... He's probably not the best match up for Schultz but to me he wasn't moving 100%.
Reid is too important to our backline to be a permanent forward. We need another permanent forward - Doesn't have to be a champion,...only competent.

The footage of people not manning up was just as bad...

Port said they were confident that due to their superior fitness, they would get over the top of us in the last.
Maybe it is a good thing that Buttifant is looking at moving onto the Scum. Need new ideas etc.
Heard that Dank and Robertson are available. Maybe we should give them a go
