Sadly, the cons far outweighed the pros. But there were some pros.

We showed some fight in patches after the first quarter. We must focus on keeping this intensity for a larger part of a match.

We just get possession, and then there is no automatic understanding of where the next delivery should go to our next player...we just look up and around, and hope that someone else presents himself. In that time, the opposition covers our options. It as if we have drilled absolutely nothing ovr the preseason.
Our forward structure simply does not exist. We just bomb high balls in, hoping against all probability that one of our guys will mark. There is no precision delivery, no creation of one on one contests in our forward half.
All these things are to do with coaching. Our coaching, the conception of our structures, have, during the preseason, been totally surpassed by the rest of the AFL it seems.
im also sad for bucks. he's genuine limpid failings was there to see.

the only time we will see us win another match this year is against, well i don't know who it will be against but it will be a battle for the spoon. really depressing stuff.

I think this post is a pearler and absolutely spot on. Great calm amidst the hysteria.

One thing I've noticed about Treloar is that he needs to learn how to stand up in a tackle and dispose of the ball with a bit more composure. He often gets it in traffic and blindly disposes of it without any clue about whose advantage it's going to. That's just asking for turnovers and they kill you in the modern game. That said there's more to like than dislike about him.

Fix up those 3 issues, and we will be in good shape....

i wonder if bucks has considered this.

I would like to see Buckley do two things next week against Essendon. Firstly, play a loose man in defence. Its important we do this and clean up the biggest problem we have in conceding easy goals. I dont know who is the perfect candidate for this role. However i recall sidebottom trialled not too long ago and would like to see his brains back their constantly or maybe someone like Oxley could grow in that role. That would mean we scrap this Zone shit. I cant tell on Tele so i may need someone to clarify this, i hope im not right. But it seems buckey is trying to set-up his Zone in the corridor. Which is why StKilda Melbourne etc. are finding space out wide. If this is correct it is a very poor Tactical decision by Nathan. Maybe even amateur. Secondly, we need Cox in the Goalsquare and maybe someone like broomhead back in. Cox just needs to help Grundy 20% of the game and can create major problems tactically. He could be the focal point that puts some fear into defenses. Problems on who to play on him and thus freeing up Cloke Moore Fasolo that little bit more. Broomhead Varcoe eventually Elliot and hopefully sometime Swan should be ready in the pockets or front and centre of the Bohemeath. Even if all 4 or 5 of our other forwards are leading to an inside 50 kick. Cox should always be in the goal square. No defender should be marking against him.
Gavin Brown.. Collingwood lifting..Right on the boundary line, back to Milane likewise... DAICOS nearly runs out of room........ GOAL

Thanks Number 35!! Someone with some positive suggestions!
Oxley played a fabulous game last year as loose man in defence (can't recall specifically now which game it was).
And yep, Cox would take care of the opposition's tallest defender. Just need to make sure there is always someone crumbing at his feet though.

I would agree however we are going backwards so quickly that eventually is just hoping and from the evidence not likely under current conditions.
