this. i hate to sy it but that was pea hearted stuff, no determination (except brown) for the life of me i cannot figure out how the hell thomas gets a game!
TP, I think Thomas is still getting a game because he's an opportunistic goal kicker. However, sad to say, he's been well below his best in recent weeks. Trouble is, who do you bring in for him? Crocker?
I think there were others besides Callum who dug in - mostly the backs - Crisp, Levi, Chris Mayne, Roughy. Varcoe of course always tries his heart too, although not effective tonight.

Cox is currently a liability and playing 2 dwarfs in Brown and Daics is suicidal.
Nup, can't agree Rudeboy. Cox is never a liability, even if he isn't sticking his marks. He got two frees in front of goal tonight simply because the opposition had to interfere with him to stop him. Also, I'm thinking that Brown missed two shots he would normally get, because Coxy was on the mark.
Interesting, but I can't recall Mason getting a run in the ruck tonight. He usually does quite well when relieving Grundy.

Cox should be dominating. The fact that he isn’t is one of the main reasons we have been just going this year.
His inability to consistently take marks is a real problem for someone who is the tallest player in the league.
Give him a break slangman. He's just come back from a rather lengthy injury lay off and being the tallest player in the league creates its own issues for the opposition.

Cox can only dominate if our midfield is at least holding equal. Cox depends so much on the chaos ball entering F50 where he can tap on, or lead up and create a threat for the opposition defence. We just didnt get the ball forward enough for Cox to have an impact. Not his fault. The dysfunction started in the midfield.

So true! I think that's where our biggest issue has been all season.
I just watched a video on the AFL website of Didak's "three goals in three minutes" at Etihad, as it was known then. I was there that night and us Pies fans were just delirious with joy! If Coxy had someone like Dids, Krakeour or Leon at his feet, no-one would think he was a liability. Sadly, the ones closest to them (Stevo and Jamie) are both out, although Mihocek gives it his best shot, despite not being a small forward.
PS Mason was our only multiple goal-kicker tonight.

Too many injuries and we don't have the cattle to do the hunting. Losing confidence regularly.
Maybe the cricket will be better: oops.
We have a chance of beating Hawthorn, because they are not great at applying physical pressure, and right now we are unable to stand up to those who do.
Desperately need Tay and Sier in the team. If we can get both back, I still believe in miracles.
I like that at least Bucks uncharacteristically made some moves at three quarter time - Moore down forward, JDG in the middle.
However, I was desperate for them to move Levi onto Cunnington after the half-time break!!
I don't know where Bucks has gone - into hiding? I can't find his presser anywhere.

Wow. Good point PP. Why did Bucks not move Levi onto Cunnington? Levi was one of our best tonight, with his will to impose his physical presence. Cunnington sliced us open like a soft loaf of white bread on so many occasions: why wasnt Levi matched up with him??

We do have a habit of lifting for the bigger games, but I reckon this is (sadly) a distinct possibility. Not sure how you decide who to leave out next week with a good half-dozen or so in contention for that dubious honour, but change and immediate improvement in confidence and execution is urgently needed.

Maybe some "journalist " will ask that question - why was Cunnington not tagged - in his presser. Yep, Levi is certainly not afraid pf physical pressure!!
A bit of a random thought - we need another tough nut in the middle until Adams can get back. What about Maynard? I know he's great value in the back line, but maybe that could be covered with IQ, assuming Aish does not get up. Or even Varcoe - at least he can lay a good tackle. What would you say MTTM?
